Meghan Markle has found herself in hot water after she seemingly disrespected the late Princess Diana.

Meghan Shares Disturbing Video

The Duchess of Sussex has been hit with backlash for posting an “insensitive” video that showed her kicking her feet up in a limousine close to the Paris tunnel where Diana was killed in a car crash back in 1997. Critics have ripped into Meghan, 44, over the video, accusing her of being “thoughtless” and “bewilderingly tasteless.”

Meghan was in the French capital this weekend for Paris Fashion Week. The video in question appears to have been filmed from Meghan’s point of view. It shows her with her feet up in the limo as it passes various bridges, including the Pont Alexandre III and the Pont des Invalides.

The next bridge along the Seine is the Pont d’Alma, which is located next to the Pont d’Alma tunnel. It is there that Diana was killed 28 years ago at the age of 36. Her death greatly traumatized her son Prince Harry, who has been married to Meghan since 2018.

‘Insensitive Beyond Belief…’

The backlash against Meghan over the video has been swift. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said that it was “beyond stupid” for Meghan to post this video. He also suggested that Harry will not be happy with his wife about this, given how devoted he remains to his mother’s memory.

“I don’t understand what on earth she was thinking – well, she can’t have been thinking. No adviser would ever advise doing something so strange,” Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail. “She has every right to go to fashion events but to share a video which had any connections with the tragic death of the Princess of Wales defies belief.”

“I’m sure she didn’t mean to cause offense, she can’t have been thinking, but it’s insensitive beyond belief. It’s a complete absence of thought,” he continued. “She couldn’t possibly have intended to be disrespectful but it’s another example of the Sussexes doing something that makes no sense at all.”

“Diana’s death is a tragedy that has scarred so much of Harry’s life and I can’t imagine he would find this very appropriate,” Fitzwilliams added. “While he’s always supportive in public I suspect he’ll be absolutely horrified and she could hear plenty from him about it.”

Social Media Responds

Social media users were quick to agree with Fitzwilliams on this.

“Regardless of specific location, filming herself driving through Paris at night is sending exactly the message she intends to send,” one social media user commented. Another added that the video is “not exactly helpful” for Harry, who was only 12 years-old when his mother was killed.

“You cannot make this up,” a third user commented. A fourth wrote, “Please tell me that’s not real..? She didn’t actually do that.. did she..?”

At the time of this writing, Meghan has yet to comment on the backlash. However, she also has yet to delete the video from her Instagram Story.

Given what happened to her husband’s mother, one would think that Meghan would have thought twice before posting this video. Only time will tell how Harry reacts to this!
