Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, has been left humiliated as insiders are claiming that she just got some bad news from Netflix. Indeed, according to these sources, her lifestyle show With Love, Meghan will not be returning for a third season on the streaming service.
Meghan Hit With Crushing Blow
“It’s not returning as a series,” an insider told Page Six. “There have been conversations about holiday specials, but there’s nothing in the works yet.”
Other sources said that Meghan, 44, will be focusing on building her lifestyle brand As Ever moving forward.
“People will see similar cooking and crafting on Meghan’s socials for the brand, but more bite-sized,” one insider said.
Meghan shouldn’t have been too surprised to get this news. Indeed, season two of With Love, Meghan was widely panned by critics and Netflix fans alike. In fact, when it dropped on Netflix back in August, it didn’t even make the list of the streamer’s Top 10 shows in the United States that week.
Season one of With Love, Meghan was also panned when it premiered in March of last year. In the first half of 2025, the show ranked #383, with 5.3 million global views. Despite this, Meghan baselessly claimed that people “love” the show. She also alleged that those who criticize With Love, Meghan online are just “trying to pay their bills.”
“I think I knew who I was trying to meet,” Meghan said on “The Circuit with Emily Change” when asked about the mixed reviews.
Unfortunately for Meghan, however, it seems that Netflix disagreed. Indeed, it appears that not nearly enough people “love” With Love, Meghan for Netflix to give it a third season.
Netflix Downgrades Meghan’s Deal
After season two flopped in August, Netflix downgraded Meghan and Harry’s deal from their $100 million contract to a far more modest “first look” deal.
Meghan and Harry had signed their $100 million Netflix contract back in 2020 after they stepped down as senior royals.
On August 11, Netflix announced that it will not be renewing Meghan and Harry’s $100 million contract. Instead, Netflix has given them a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects.” This “downgrade” is the same one that Netflix gave to Barack and Michelle Obama.
“In practice, it is a downgrade from the 2020 overall deal that birthed Harry & Meghan, Polo and With Love, Meghan, among other projects,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
“The overall-to-first-look extension mirrors the move Netflix made recently with the Obamas — as well as others — for their Higher Ground banner,” the publication continued. “In both cases, the exclusivity carried by their respective, splashy original deals has been removed.”
‘Netflix Is Trimming Fat…’
While Meghan has tried to spin this in a positive light, experts have emphatically stated that it’s a major downgrade.
“They have shot the golden goose of 2020. More of a ‘we’ll call you’ than ‘here’s the checkbook,'” leading publicist Mark Borkowski told Daily Mail. “It’s a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim.”
“I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo,” he added. “They’re still in business together. Meghan’s As ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window. But make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original. So Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix chapter is less champagne budget, more Prosecco by the glass.”
There’s perhaps nothing in life that Meghan wants more than Hollywood success. Before marrying Harry in 2018, Meghan spent years desperately trying to make it as an actress. Though she eventually landed a role on the small cable TV drama Suits, she never came close to achieving the A-list level of fame that she craved.
Given just how badly Meghan wants to be embraced by Hollywood, she has to be devastated by Netflix deciding not to give her show a third season. Only time will tell if Meghan can bounce back from this and actually achieve even a small amount of Hollywood success!
