Meghan Markle is desperately trying to launch her Netflix comeback today. Indeed, season two of her show With Love, Meghan dropped on Netflix on Tuesday, August 26.
The stakes couldn’t be higher for Meghan, as this comes weeks after Netflix downgraded her and her husband Prince Harry from their lucrative $100 million contract to a far more modest “first look deal.” This makes it more important than ever for Meghan that season two of her series is a hit.
If Meghan thought that the British royal family was at all invested in her Netflix comeback, however, she just learned the hard way that she’s dead wrong. Instead, insiders are saying that the royals have absolutely “zero interest” in Meghan and Harry’s desperate attempts to stay relevant through Netflix.
‘Royals Have Far Bigger Priorities’
“According to my sources, Season 2 is not even on the palace’s radar,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield of YouTube’s “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” claimed to Fox News. “It poses no impact on the core four: King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales… When it comes to something as trivial as Meghan Markle making bath salts, the royals have far bigger priorities.”
Schofield went on to say that friends of William and his wife Kate Middleton recently spoke out to claim that Meghan’s latest ventures are “all very budget and rushed.”
“That sentiment aligns completely with what my sources tell me,” Schofield explained. “There’s a sense of desperation… that the royal family simply cannot relate to… They won’t lose any sleep over the prospect of With Love, Meghan. It won’t be on their calendars, and they certainly won’t be making her pasta or bath salts.”
‘Royals Have Zero Interest’ In Meghan’s Show
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich was quick to agree. She’s heard that the royal family was “relieved” that Meghan didn’t reveal anything about them in season one of With Love, Meghan. This has made it unnecessary for them to tune in for season two.
“Senior royals have zero interest in watching Meghan Markle’s show,” Fordwich stated. “It’s deemed irrelevant while it avoids nakedly commercializing their royal connections.”
British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard isn’t surprised at all that the royals have no interest in Meghan’s show.
“The second season of Meghan’s passion project is a pretty inoffensive, run-of-the-mill series,” Chard. “I doubt this is on the royal family’s radar of priorities, and it’s most definitely not a worry to ‘The Firm.'”
“The average person feels that With Love, Meghan lacks a wow factor. I hear Netflix hopes to strike gold with an obvious big bucks series,” she continued. “A second Harry and Meghan docuseries or a documentary about Princess Diana ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death is on their wish list.”
Meghan And Harry’s Netflix ‘Downgrade’
After Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals in 2020, they signed a massive $100 million deal with Netflix. That deal is set to expire next month.
On August 11, Netflix announced that it will not be renewing Meghan and Harry’s $100 million contract. Instead, Netflix has given them a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects.” This “downgrade” is the same one that Netflix gave to Barack and Michelle Obama.
“In practice, it is a downgrade from the 2020 overall deal that birthed Harry & Meghan, Polo and With Love, Meghan, among other projects,” The Hollywood Reporter reported.
“The overall-to-first-look extension mirrors the move Netflix made recently with the Obamas — as well as others — for their Higher Ground banner,” the publication continued. “In both cases, the exclusivity carried by their respective, splashy original deals has been removed.”
Meghan And Harry’s Netflix Fails
Meghan and Harry’s downgrade came after multiple projects of their’s flopped for Netflix. One of these projects was season one of With Love Meghan, which didn’t even crack the top 300 most viewed Netflix shows for the first half of 2025. Instead, it came in at a humiliating 383. Making matters even worse, their docuseries Polo, which was Harry’s passion project, currently ranks 3,436 out of around 7,000 shows on Netflix.
“They have shot the golden goose of 2020 – more of a ‘we’ll call you’ than ‘here’s the checkbook,'” leading publicist Mark Borkowski told Daily Mail. “It’s a first-look deal, which means Netflix gets first dibs but no obligation to bankroll every semi-royal whim.”
“I reckon Netflix is trimming fat industry-wide, so this is less carte blanche, more curated cameo,” he added. “They’re still in business together. Meghan’s As ever brand and seasonal specials keep them in the Netflix shop window but make no mistake, this is a slimmed-down sequel to the blockbuster original. So Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix chapter is less champagne budget, more Prosecco by the glass.”
No wonder the royals don’t give a hoot about Meghan’s attempt at a Netflix comeback. In the end, Meghan and Harry are no longer relevant. Season two of a subpar show like With Love, Meghan isn’t going to change that.
Sorry, Meghan, but this appears to be yet another fail for you. Good riddance!
