It’s been six years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.
Now, insiders are claiming that Harry may finally be turning on Meghan after her latest diva move.
Meghan Pressures Harry
Meghan, 44, is reportedly pressuring Harry, 41, to take an onscreen role in a romantic comedy. She firmly believes this could revive their reputations in Hollywood.
The couple is believed to be developing a film adaptation of The Wedding Date, the romance novel by Jasmine Guillory. This is part of their renewed push in entertainment after they were downgraded to a first-look deal with Netflix last August.
Meghan is desperately hoping that this project will re-establish their relevance in Hollywood. However, insiders are saying that the project is also sparking tensions between her and Harry.
“Meghan believes they are at a critical crossroads and feels it is essential for Harry to be front and center so the project sends a clear message that they are operating as a team,” a source told Radar Online. “In her view, a cameo from both of them in the film this is not just another creative venture but a defining opportunity to regain traction, stay relevant, and prove they can still compete in an unforgiving and highly competitive industry.”
Harry was reportedly angry that Meghan even proposed this. Indeed, he feels that making a cameo in a Hollywood movie would go against the values that once defined his public life.
Meghan’s Frustration With Harry
Other sources close to the couple claim that Meghan has become increasingly frustrated by Harry’s reluctance to fully embrace Hollywood.
“From Meghan’s perspective, it feels as though Harry is dismissing an opportunity they simply cannot afford to let slip by,” a second insider alleged. “She sees this moment as absolutely decisive for their future. And believes that if they are going to make it work, everyone needs to be fully committed and pulling in the same direction.”
Unfortunately for Meghan, Harry has become disenchanted with the entertainment world. This comes after Harry’s personal Netflix projects, including Polo in 2024 and Heart of Invictus in 2023, were panned by critics and viewers alike.
“Harry has become deeply cynical about Hollywood. And views much of it as superficial and overly performative,” said a third source. “He is uncomfortable with the idea of chasing validation or packaging himself for public consumption. Particularly in a genre he does not take seriously or feel aligned with.”
Meghan spent years desperately trying to make it as an actress. She eventually landed a role on the cable series Suits. However, Meghan never achieved the A-list fame that she craved until her marriage to Harry in 2018. Years of experience in entertainment has given Meghan a more pragmatic view of Hollywood.
“Meghan is acutely aware of how unforgiving the entertainment industry can be. And believes that real success only comes when you are fully invested,” another insider explained. “From her perspective, Harry’s reluctance is incredibly frustrating because she feels she is shouldering most of the responsibility for creating long-term, reliable income and keeping their professional future afloat.”
Shifting Priorities
This comes as Meghan and Harry’s priorities are shifting in a big way.
“At this stage, Harry is far more focused on charitable causes and work that gives him a genuine sense of purpose,” a source claimed. “He is prepared to back Meghan’s ventures to a certain extent. But he is resistant to allowing Hollywood or entertainment projects to become the central definition of who he is or what his life stands for.”
In the end, this does not bode well for the future of Meghan and Harry’s marriage.
“Harry has a growing sense that the story of his own life is slipping out of his hands,” said one insider. “He resents feeling as though every decision is filtered through branding, optics, and marketing. And finds it exhausting to have his personal experiences constantly packaged for public consumption.”
“When Harry makes up his mind about something, he can become deeply entrenched and difficult to shift. Meghan may discover that persuading him to change course on this issue is far more challenging than she anticipates,” another source concluded. “Although, up to now, she has always gotten her way with him.”
Harry quite literally gave up everything for Meghan when they stepped down as senior royals. He has become estranged from his own family, and been alienated from his home country. Should Harry ever decide to leave Meghan, it’ll be interesting to see if he can get any of that back. Only time will tell if Meghan and Harry’s marriage can survive 2026!
