Earlier this month, we reported that Netflix had finally cut ties with Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry. This comes after multiple projects of hers flopped for the streaming service.
Now, things have gotten even worse for Meghan. Indeed, insiders are claiming that Meghan and Harry are being snubbed by their wealthy neighbors in the ritzy Montecito, California.
Meghan And Harry’s Neighbors Turn On Them
A source told Page Six that Meghan and Harry’s neighbors have had enough of them both.
“They are avoiding them,” said an insider from the area. “No one wants to be seen with them.”
Other sources explained that the cold shoulder that Meghan and Harry are getting in Montecito has nothing to do with Netflix cutting ties with them. Instead, the frosty reception has reportedly been years in the making.
“It’s not hate,” said another source. “It’s just a growing awareness that they’re takers with zero self-awareness. Everyone’s exhausted by them.”
Meanwhile, a source close to Meghan and Harry has attempted to shut these claims down.
“They have a great relationship with their neighbors and love their community,” that insider insisted.
Meghan And Harry Move To Montecito
Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals back in January of 2020. They then bought a $14.65 million in Montecito, which is something of a celebrity hotbed. Indeed, Montecito is home to various A-list celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Aniston.
“They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as them for a family,” a spokesperson for the couple told Vogue at the time.
Unfortunately for Meghan and Harry, however, it seems that they have proven to be anything but popular with their Montecito neighbors. In December of 2024, neighbor Richard Mineards said that Meghan was not an “asset” to the area. He made this comment in the German documentary Harry: The Lost Prince.
“I personally don’t think that Meghan is an asset to our community. She doesn’t really go out or get involved with the community,” he said. “Harry has to a certain extent, because he’s quite jolly. But Meghan doesn’t seem to get seen anywhere. And you don’t see him either.”
Meghan’s Neighbors Secretly Laugh At Her
In June of 2025, we reported that other insiders had revealed that Meghan’s Montecito neighbors secretly laugh at her behind her back.
“When the princess-thing didn’t work out, she reverted to the person she was when [Harry] found her,” a Montecito source told Daily Mail of Meghan at the time. “She’s trying to say she’s exceedingly normal, which she isn’t. It’s all very L.A. actress.”
“It’s glaringly obvious she doesn’t get it,” the insider continued.
“It proves people don’t really change and all along she just wanted to be an influencer and TV star,” the source concluded.
This has to have come as a crushing blow to Meghan, given how long she’s desperately wanted to be part of A-list circles in Southern California. Indeed, prior to her 2018 marriage to Harry, Meghan spent years trying to make it as an actress. Though she was eventually cast on the cable television series Suits, Meghan never came close to achieving the A-list level of fame that she craved until she married into it.
In the end, it’s not surprising that the rich and famous of Montecito are just as tired of Meghan and Harry as the rest of us are. Only time will tell how much longer Meghan and Harry will decide it’s worth it to keep living there!
