It’s been nearly six years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals. They then moved to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised.
When they made this move to California, Meghan and Harry dreamed of becoming Hollywood royalty. After they signed there five year, $100 million contract with Netflix in 2020, it seemed that this dream would soon become a reality.
Unfortunately for both Meghan and Harry, however, this dream appears to have just gone up in smoke. Indeed, insiders are saying that the elites of Hollywood have “soured” on the Sussexes, completely turning their backs on the couple.
Hollywood Is ‘Sick’ Of Meghan And Harry
A Hollywood insider told Page Six that when it comes to Meghan and Harry, “There is not only no appetite left for them in LA, but they’ve also worn through any good will they had.”
“People are sick of them, the act has gotten stale,” another source added.
This comes after Netflix downgraded Meghan and Harry, declining to renew their contract when it expired over the summer.
Instead, Netflix signed Meghan and Harry to a humiliating first-look deal. This means that while Meghan and Harry will need to pitch all of their ideas to Netflix first before going elsewhere, the streaming service is under no obligation to greenlight any of them.
Netflix made the decision to downgrade Meghan and Harry after the couple created various flops for them. These failures included their docuseries Polo and season two of With Love, Meghan. The latter was widely panned by critics and viewers alike when it dropped back in August.
Meghan And Harry Are ‘Hopeless’ In Business
Yet another Hollywood source spoke out to say that Meghan and Harry have no finesse when it comes to business.
“They’re just hopeless in professional settings,” this insider said.
The source went on to say that in one instance, Harry showed up late for a meeting with Netflix. When he finally arrived, he asked a top Netflix executive for a cup of hot chocolate, which is reportedly his favorite drink.
A Spotify employee told Vanity Fair a similar story. According to that insider, Harry asked for the same drink, but “there was none in the office, so employees scrambled to obtain some.”
This report alleged that, “An idea was pitched to Harry — what if he reviewed a hot chocolate every week while chatting with a different friend… which he and his team considered and rejected.”
As for Meghan, she comes with her own set of challenges when dealing with her.
“She’s convinced she’s smarter than everyone and dismissive,” a source lamented.
Another insider claimed that Meghan is the one in the couple who “controls everything,” with Harry just following her lead.
Earlier this year, an anonymous source who has years of experience working in media projects claimed that working with Meghan was, “really, really, really awful. Very painful.” Another source who worked with Meghan alleged that she frequently threw staffers “to the wolves”.
“It was unfair, what could their staff truly do about it?” a source told Page Six back in July. “The sources were anonymous and things could not be refuted.”
Staffers Are ‘Terrified Of Meghan’
Last year, a source close to Meghan and Harry told The Hollywood Reporter that staffers are “terrified of Meghan.”
“She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice,” this source alleged. “They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”
Yesterday, we reported that Meghan is returning to acting. Indeed, she will be playing herself in the new Amazon MGM Studios movie Close Personal Friends. This came as a surprise to many, as Meghan had said for years that she was “done” with acting forever after marrying Harry.
Meghan making her acting return indicates that she may be more desperate than ever to get Hollywood back on her side. Only time will tell if she can actually do that. For now, however, it’s certainly not looking good for Meghan, Harry, and their Hollywood royalty dreams!
