It’s already been twenty years since Martha Stewart was released from prison, if you can believe that, after serving five months on conspiracy charges. Now, she’s lashing out at the mysterious parole officer who ruined the one chance that she had to host Saturday Night Live! right after her release.

Stewart Blasts Her Parole Officer

While appearing on The Tonight Show on Monday night, Stewart revealed that she was offered the opportunity to host Saturday Night Live! right after she was released from prison in 2005.

“I wanted to, and they asked me as I was coming out of Alderson, that camp I was in for a while,” recalled Stewart, 83.

“And my parole officer wouldn’t give me the time to do it,” she continued. “That bastard! I still have his name and his number.”

While Stewart is understandably miffed that she missed her one shot, she is still hoping that “maybe some day,” she’ll get an offer from Saturday Night Live! again.

“You’d be a fantastic host,” said the Saturday Night Live! alum Jimmy Fallon, 50.

“Oh I would. I’d be amazing,” Stewart immediately said in agreement, causing the audience to burst out laughing.

“Start a campaign!” she urged them.

Stewart Is Constantly Impersonated On SNL

Stewart went on to admit that Stewart is “one of the most impersonated people” on Saturday Night Live! Indeed, she’s been portrayed by nine different stars on the sketch comedy show. These Stewart impersonators include Ana Gasteyer, Kate McKinnon, Amy Poehler, Chloe Fineman, Rachel Dratch, and hilariously even David Spade.

“He’s my favorite. David’s my favorite,” Stewart gushed of Spade, 60. “He was wearing my poncho. The real poncho.”

While some may not like being impersonated on Saturday Night Live!, Stewart has fun with it.

“I love it. Imitation is the highest form of flattery,” she stated. “You might as well be imitated.”

Stewart’s Time In Prison

Stewart was sent to prison in 2004 on charges related to conspiracy and obstruction of justice for her role in a stock trading scandal for her companies. She ended up spending five months at Alderson Federal Prison Camp. Last year, Stewart opened up about her time in prison in the Netflix docu-series Martha.

“Physical exam, stripped of all clothes. Squat, arms out, cough — embarrassing,” she said of her first 150 days in the prison facility.

“I had to do all that crap that you see in the movies,” she later added. “You can’t even believe that that’s what you’re going through.”

Once she got out of prison, Stewart wasted no time in monetizing the experience. Indeed, she quickly released a book titled, “The Martha Rules,” She also launched two new TV shows.

Meanwhile, in a 2017 interview, Stewart said that she does “not want” her time in prison to be “the major thing of [her] life.”

“It’s not a good experience and it doesn’t make you stronger,” she said at the time. “I was a strong person to start with and thank heavens I was. And I can still hold my head up high and know that I’m fine.”

Stewart is known for having a hilarious sense of humor. That’s why we would certainly love to see Stewart host Saturday Night Live! Here’s hoping she gets to do so at some point in the future!
