Kim Kardashian is speaking out to finally reveal why photos of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were removed from her and her mother Kris Jenner’s social media posts celebrating Jenner’s 70th birthday party in November.
Kim Addresses ‘Photogate’
This week, Kim, 45, appeared on her younger sister Khloe’s podcast Khloe in Wonder Land. There, she publicly addressed “photogate” for the first time.
“It was really innocent, which is so crazy,” Kim began. “Mom and Meghan have been friends for some years now, and they have a really sweet relationship.”
Kim went on to say that afterwards, they were going through photos. They then decided which ones to share on social media.
“We were told that it was totally cool to post,” Kim explained. “And then after it was posted, I think they realized it was Remembrance Day. And they didn’t want to be seen at a party. Even though it’s already up, you know, and then taken down. And then I think they realized, like, ‘Oh, this was so silly.'”
Kim then said that even though Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, had been seen at the Baby2Baby charity gala the same night, “that was fine. But maybe not partying and dancing on the dance floor or whatever.”
“So we took them down to respect Remembrance Day,” Kim added.
Remembrance Day is a November holiday in the United Kingdom that honors members of the armed forces who died in service. It’s tradition that the British royal family takes part in a number of solemn events to honor the sacrifices made by these servicemen and women.
Kris’s birthday party was held on the Saturday night before the royals gathered at The Cenotaph memorial in London for the annual service the next morning.
‘You Got To Laugh…’
Many took issue with Meghan and Harry demanding that their photo be removed. Kim, however, seems to have taken this in stride.
“You got to laugh at, like, the situation sometimes. And just, like, lighten it up. And be if everyone’s taking it the wrong way, like, lean in,” Kim told Khloe, 41. “I was like, ‘We should do a full Skims campaign.’ Take the photo — even just us, like, I’ll shoot you at mom, you know, post it and then delete it, like, 30 minutes later. And then I say, ‘Oh, sorry, I didn’t have permission to post those photos for the campaign.'”
“If we just made it light and made it funny, you know, I think it would have been, like, received differently. But I hated how that was received for everyone,” Kim concluded. “That sucks. It was just made into something that was so crazy and ridiculous that just didn’t have to be.”

This comes six years after Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. In the years since then, Meghan and H arry have struggled to find success in their new home. Indeed, they certainly didn’t earn themselves any new friends in the entertainment world by demanding that the Kardashians remove their photo from social media.
Though Kim seems to be letting Meghan and Harry off the hook, this appears to be yet another fail for the couple. Good riddance, Meghan and Harry!
