Kid Rock, a perennial favorite in these august pages, had a full meltdown while performing in a Nashville bar last weekend. He ended up cursing out the crowd before storming offstage.
Kid Rock Performs In Nashville
Rock, 54, was performing at JBJ’s Nashville on Saturday night at a party for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan, who had turned 63 the day before. This was the perfect place to hold his birthday party, as JBJ’s Nashville is owned by none other than Jon Bon Jovi himself.
In the middle of the festivities, Rock took the stage to perform in a surprise appearance. Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, it didn’t take long for this to go off the rails.
Video that has quickly gone viral shows Rock begin singing “Proud Mary” by Creedence Clearwater Revival as the crowd audibly applauds him. All is going well for the first few minutes of the song, but things take a turn when Rock suddenly tells the band to stop playing. He then demands that the crowd start clapping along with the song, even showing them exactly how he wants them to do it.
“[expletive] them. [expletive] them. Hey, hey, stop,” he said, according to the video. “If you ain’t gonna clap, we ain’t gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”

Kid Rock Melts Down
The band starts playing again, and Rock sings for another minute. The footage appears to show much of the crowd clapping along exactly as they were instructed. This wasn’t enough for Rock, however. Before long, he stopped again to address the audience one last time.
“You know what, [expletive] y’all. You ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone,” Rock told them before abruptly storming offstage as the crowd protested.
Bryan, who had been playing along with Rock, put up a confused hand gesture and talked to a fellow band member as Rock left.

Thankfully, Bryan still seems to have enjoyed his party. He later posted a video to Instagram of him performing an epic keyboard solo onstage for the crowd.
“THANK YOU FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES! Rocking at @jbjsnash last night with @bigkennytv!” he wrote in the caption.
Kid Rock has yet to comment publicly on his meltdown.
Kid Rock’s ‘Rock The Country’ Tour
Rock is currently preparing to embark on his “Rock the Country” tour with Nickelback, Hank Williams Jr., and Lynyrd Skynyrd in April. The tour will take Rock and his fellow performers to ten small towns across America.
“JOIN THE MOVEMENT,” Rock wrote on social media as he announced the tour back in November. “Rock The Country is more than a festival; it’s a movement, a gathering of hardworking, God-fearing patriots who love America and believe in the power of live music to bring people together.”
“Here, the beer flows, the love pours, and the music rains down like a monsoon,” he continued. “Are you ready to stand with We The People and experience the force of live music? Then join us, or welcome back to Rock The Country 2025.”
Whether you like Rock or not, you can’t deny that he’s one of a kind. Here’s hoping that he’s able to have more patience with the crowds on his upcoming tour than he did in Nashville last Saturday night!
