Over the past few weeks, parts of the United States have been left devastated by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Now, the Hollywood star Kevin Costner is stepping up to help victims of these tragedies through his band Kevin Costner & Modern West.
Costner Helps Hurricane Victims With New Song
After seeing just how badly Florida, the Carolinas, and the rest of the South have been impacted by these hurricanes, Costner and his bandmates decided to use their platform to help. Indeed, that’s why the proceeds from the group’s new single will go entirely toward survivors of the hurricanes.
“Those people down there have been going to my movies for years and supporting me with Horizon and everything else,” Costner, 69, told KTLA. “I said ‘let’s do it.”
An actor who actually cares about his fans. Imagine that!
The band’s new song is called “Find Your Way,” and it’s their first single in four years. Check it out for yourself in the video below.
Costner Hopes Hurricane Victims Find Hope
Meanwhile, Costner is hoping that hurricane victims can find hope in the message of the song.
“It speaks so out loud to this moment. I think we all understand what happens when it gets dark, when it feels like there’s no hope,” he said. “When you feel like, in some sense, prayers haven’t been answered.”
Costner later doubled down on this in an Instagram post.
“I’ve gone through seasons of darkness where I clung to the lyrics of songs that really carried me through,” he wrote. “I hope that ‘Find Your Way’ provides that kind of refuge for anyone trudging through and losing sight of hope.”
“I hope it means something to you guys, and that maybe you’ll consider purchasing it to benefit the victims of these terrible storms,” he later added.
The song includes the lyrics, “When the darkness overtakes you / And the stars above forsake you / And there’s no refuge for days and days / May you always find your way…”

‘Find Your Way’
Costner revealed that the song was written by his bandmates Teddy Morgan and Park Chisolm with singer-songwriter Kat Higgins. Modern West band members John Coinman, lair Forward, Larry Cobb, and Matt Combs can also be heard on the song.
“Find Your Way” is available on the group’s Bandcamp page at a “pay what you want” rate. Indeed, all of the proceeds of the song will be going to HopeForce International. This is a disaster relief organization with boots on the ground in the sites most affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Despite decades of success in Hollywood, Costner wants to mostly be remembered most for his philanthropic efforts.
“What do I want to be known about? Put it on my headstone, ‘and he made movies too,’” he also concluded.
Watch Costner talk more about this in the video below.
Costner founded the rock band Kevin Costner & Modern West back in 2007. The band’s first album Untold Truths came out the next year. It went on to reach No. 61 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and No. 35 on the Top Heatseekers chart.
Costner has played some heroic characters onscreen. It’s nice to see that he’s also just as heroic in real life. Please join us in saying a prayer for all those impacted by the recent hurricanes!
