It’s been six months since the Hollywood star Kevin Costner’s divorce from his wife Christine Baumgartner was finalized. Sadly, insiders are now saying that Costner is still struggling to come to terms with it.
It couldn’t have come at a worse time for Costner, who is currently in the fight of his life to bring his magnum opus, Horizon: An American Saga, to the big screen.
Kevin’ Struggling After Divorce
Kevin, 69, and Christine, 50, were married for 18 years and had three children together before she allegedly “blindsided” him by filing for divorce. Their divorce was finalized in February of this year, and Christine has since moved on by dating Kevin’s former friend Josh Connor.
Now, insiders are alleging that Christine and Josh are close to getting engaged, much to Costner’s dismay.
“Kevin feels like he’s been stabbed in the back,” one insider told Life And Style. “Kevin’s craving closure but finding it difficult, especially as he’s hearing how happy Christine is.”
Kevin has now found himself having to pay Christine $63,000 a month in child support. The former couple share three children: Cayden Wyatt, 17, Hayes Logan, 15, and Grace Avery, 14.
“Kevin feels like it’s his money paying for their new life,” the source added. “It seemed toward the end that all he was to her was a bank account and it still feels that way.”

Costner’s Horizon Setback
This also comes at a difficult time for Kevin professionally. He’s been focused on his four-part Western film series Horizon: An American Saga, which he funneled $38 million of his own money into. Unfortunately for him, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter One was a massive flop both financially and critically when it came out earlier this summer.
The film cost $100 million to make, and only made $32 million in theaters – less than the amount Costner himself forked over.
Despite this, Kevin has stood by the movie. He recently said that people being “dismissive” of him isn’t a new experience.
“I’ve faced life with people being dismissive of me,” Kevin told E! News earlier this month. “But they can’t be dismissive of Horizon, because now it’s out of their hands. And they might point to the finish line – well, this is what it did at the box office – but I know that this movie is going to play for the next 50 years.”
Kevin Left Devastated By Divorce
After Christine filed for divorce in May of last year, she and Kevin spent months in bitter legal battles fighting it out over spousal and child support payments. Earlier in 2024, Kevin admitted that while the entire ordeal left him feeling “broken,” he was determined to overcome it.
“No matter how much my heart’s on the ground, no matter how broken I may be on a daily basis … I do have a level of responsibility [to those involved in these projects],” Kevin told GQ back in May.
Kevin further opened up about navigating life after his divorce in a separate interview around that same time.
“You just do it,” he told People Magazine. “You just keep talking, you keep coaching [the kids], you keep interested in what they’re interested in … I had to.”
One month later, Kevin told CBS Mornings that Christine filing for divorce was “crushing.”
“That’s a crushing moment,” Kevin said. “It’s powerful and it hurt.”
This has clearly been a very difficult time for Kevin in a variety of ways. Please join us in saying a prayer for him!
