Last week, we reported that Kevin Costner’s ex-wife Christine Baumgartner had become engaged to the actor’s former close friend Josh Connor.
As one could imagine, Costner hasn’t exactly taken this very well.
Costner ‘Felt Sucker-Punched’
Adding to his discomfort is the source where he learned this information in the first place.
“Kevin said he felt sucker-punched when his kids told him about the marriage proposal,” a source told Daily Mail.
“He said he would have preferred to have heard it straight from Christine, but either way, it still feels like betrayal even after all this time,” the insider continued. “He just celebrated his birthday, thank God they waited at least a week to make the announcement.”
Can you imagine being the kids who have to break it to the old man?
“Kevin will do what he always does and that’s focus on his kids and his work,” the source continued. “He’s premiering Horizon 2 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, his docuseries is coming out soon and he’s got his music and of course his best friend Bobby.”

Baumgartner Gets Engaged
Connor, 49, reportedly asked Baumgartner, 50, to marry him during a simple intimate dinner for two on the beach in Santa Barbara.
“It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee,” a source close to the couple told People Magazine.
Those close to Connor and Baumgartner were not surprised by the engagement.
“They spent Christmas in New York together last month, where it all began,” the insider added. “They are both over the moon and excited for their future together.”
Connor was previously close friends with Costner, 70. In fact, he was Costner and Baumgartner’s neighbor during their marriage.
Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May of 2023. A bitter divorce battle ensued, and it was finalized in February of 2024. One month before that, Baumgartner finally publicly admitted that she was dating Connor.
“Christine and Josh’s relationship started as a friendship, so they have a really strong foundation. They share the same values, and she feels so happy and supported in this new relationship,” an insider said last month. “They’re so in love. It’s been a very natural and positive step forward for Christine.”

Baumgartner Doesn’t Care What Costner Thinks
Costner has never publicly addressed Baumgartner’s romance with Connor. Those close to the Yellowstone star, however, say that he knew something was up all along.
As for Baumgartner, she doesn’t seem to care about what Costner thinks of her engagement.
“Christine doesn’t think Kevin has anything to complain about,” the source continued.
This is clearly a difficult situation for everyone involved. Please join us in saying a prayer for Costner as he struggles to come to terms with this engagement.
