The legendary Hollywood star Kelsey Grammer, best known for starring on the sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, has just become a father for the eighth time at the age of 70.

Grammer Welcomes His Eighth Child At 70

While appearing on the “Pod Meets World” podcast on Monday, Grammer revealed that he and his wife Kayte Walsh, 46, had welcomed a baby boy named Christopher a few days before.

“[Walsh] just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids,” said Grammer. “It was like three days ago. Christopher that’s just joined the family.”

Grammer and Walsh are also parents to daughter Faith, 12; and sons Gabriel, 10, and James, 8. He is also the parents of four older children from previous relationships.

Indeed, Grammer shares his daughter Spencer, 41, with his first wife, Doreen Alderman. He’s the father of daughter Greer, 33, with ex-girlfriend Barrie Buckner. In addition Grammer shares daughter Mason, 23, and son Jude, 20, with his ex-wife Camille Grammer, a former Real Housewives star.

Grammer Admits He ‘Neglected’ His Older Children

Earlier this year, Grammer admitted to having “neglected” some of his older children because he was busy with his career when they were young.

“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” Grammer told People Magazine back in May. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”

“I probably should have been a little more clear and maybe less tolerant with the older ones,” he continued. “I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there’s certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation: keep it close to the vest and play it straight, and you’re going to be well-served in your life. I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared. [I tell them], ‘What’s your job in life? Showing up.'”

While some may think that being a father to young children at 70 would be exhausting, Grammer is enjoying getting a second chance at fatherhood. It seems that with his younger children, he’s determined to get things right this time.

“It’s fantastic, the energy is magnificent,” Grammer previously told Closer Weekly about being an older father. “I’m as young as they are. [Walsh] has a pristine and extraordinary ability to love. She loves being pregnant and being a mom.”

Grammer And Walsh

Grammer met Walsh on a flight to London back in 2009. At the time, Walsh was working as a flight attendant.

“We actually met in the air on a plane to England,” Grammer in a 2012 interview. “It was very romantic, she was working on the plane.”

“We went out for coffee several days later and had this magical night in the snow in London around Christmas time,” he recalled.

Grammer married Walsh in January of 2011, making this his fourth marriage. Thankfully, this one has stuck, as they have been together ever since.

While some may think that 70 might too old of an age to become a father again, it’s clear that Grammer is still loving being an active dad to young children. We’d like to wish Grammer and Walsh the best of luck with their new little one!
