In the radically liberal world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a conservative who is brave enough to express their rightwing political views. That’s what made it so special when the former Frasier star Kelsey Grammer defied Hollywood to do just that!

Grammer Says He’s ‘A Conservative’

While being interviewed by Raymond Arroyo on the “Arroyo Grande” podcast, Grammer opened up about his conservative views.

“I realize that because I’m a conservative, I’ve been a conservative for a long time in Hollywood, and I’ve heard a lot of things said about us. I hear a lot of things said about us, that are quite remarkable. But something I finally figured out was when I’m called a racist, I know it’s not true,” said Grammer, 70. “And the thing is, so do they.”

Arroyo responded by saying that it’s unfortunate that there is “no place to come together” between political parties in the current climate. Grammer, however, disagreed. Indeed, he believes liberals and conservatives still have common ground, “but it just isn’t popular … it’s not the go-to place.”

“I’ve lost some friends through the last few years, but I’ve gained others,” he confessed. “Things are OK.”

Arroyo went on to ask if Grammer ever discusses politics with liberal co-stars. As an example of this, he cited Pedro Paschal, the leftwing actor who stars with Grammer in an upcoming Avengers movie.

“I don’t know if Pedro knows my politics, I don’t really know his,” Grammer admitted.

Grammer then revealed that they did find common ground on the #MeToo movement, which Paschal allegedly called “weak.”

“The left is always looking for something to be upset about,” Grammer explained. “And they thought they found something, and they realized they were kind of eating their own. And [Pascal] basically enumerated that for me and I thought, ‘Well, that’s kind of interesting.’ And it surprised me because I thought — I was aware he was more on the left-hand side of things.”

Despite their political differences, Grammer really likes Paschal, saying that “we’ve gotten along splendidly.”

Grammer’s Christian Faith

During this same interview, Grammer talked about his strong Christian faith. There were times in his life when he was done with God, “but He wasn’t done with me.”

Grammer recalled that he was furthest away from God when his younger sister Karen was murdered in 1975 at the age of 18. In the years following this tragedy, Grammer would “sort of haunt the streets and look for a fight, I was upset.”

While attending one of the parole hearings of his sister’s killer, he told her murderer that he forgave him. However, he also let him know that he doesn’t deserve to be a free man.

“He murdered more than one person, and he did it knowing what he was doing,” Grammer explained. “There have to be consequences. Accountability has to be something we still have in this country. I mean, that’s probably why I’m conservative in a lot of ways.”

Even so, Grammer is against the death penalty.

“I’m a pro-life guy,” he stated.

We applaud Grammer for having the courage to stand by both his faith and his conservative values. If only we had more stars in Hollywood like him.

God bless you, Kelsey Grammer!
