Kelly Clarkson has been absent from her eponymous daytime talk show for over a week, leading to speculation and sincere concern from her fans.

Thankfully, the reason behind this has partially been revealed.

Clarkson Inexplicably Absent

It all started on March 3, when Clarkson inexplicably missed a taping of The Kelly Clarkson Show. Simu Liu, who had been set to be a guest that day, agreed to step in and host at the last minute.

“Kelly isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best,” Liu, who had previously hosted for Clarkson in 2022, told the audience. “I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie Last Breath.”

“I’m here now, and look, I’m not one to back down from a challenge,” he added. Brave man!

Clarkson returned the next day and never addressed her absence. Two days later, however, Clarkson was gone again, and she hasn’t been on the show since. In her absence. celebrities like Brooke Shields and Josh Groban have stepped in to host for her.

“Kelly’s out for the day,” comedian Roy Wood Jr. said when he hosted the March 6 show. “I’m back. You’re in good hands. I was here about a week ago, I think they brought me back because of my resemblance to Kelly. You need to squint to see it, though.”

Clarkson’s Reps Speak Out

Since no explanation had been given for Clarkson’s absence, fans have started to fear that something is very wrong with her. However, Clarkson’s reps have since told TMZ that the original American Idol winner “is completely fine. She’s been dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her.”

The reps went on to claim that Clarkson will be back on the air for today’s episode of her talk show.

This isn’t the first time that Clarkson has taken an extended leave from her talk show. Back in 2022, she took the entire summer off to spend time in Montana with her two young children. She shares daughter River, 10, and son Remy, 8, with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

“It was really important to me to shut down for a minute,” Clarkson explained in August of that year. “[We] just spent the whole summer in the mountains. It was nice.”

“It felt like the first time my kids felt a little more centered as well,” she continued.

Clarkson’s Las Vegas Residency

This comes at a busy time for Clarkson. Indeed, she is preparing for her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, an 18-show run that begins on July 4, 2025. It is scheduled to run through November 15, 2025.

“I’m so excited to be back in Vegas!” Clarkson announced last month. “We’re bringing the studio to the stage this time with ‘Studio Sessions!’ See y’all there!”

While it’s a relief to hear that Clarkson is alright, we can only hope and pray that nothing is seriously wrong with one of her loved ones. It remains to be seen if she’ll address her absence on the show today!
