Keith Richards has become a great‑grandfather.
Officially a Great-Grandfather
The 82‑year‑old music icon is celebrating the arrival of baby Luna, the first child of his granddaughter Ella Richards.
Ella, 30, revealed the news on Instagram by sharing a photo cradling her newborn daughter, calling the moment her “best birthday yet.”
She wrote, “30!! Best birthday yet with our baby girl Luna.” Luna is Ella’s first child with her long‑term partner Sascha von Bismarck, the photographer son of Count Leopold von Bismarck‑Schönhausen and designer Countess Debonnaire von Bismarck.
The birth marks a new chapter for one of rock’s most famous dynasties – and puts Richards in the same club as his bandmate Sir Mick Jagger, who became a great‑grandfather back in 2014.
The family celebration comes during a busy period for the Rolling Stones, who continue to draw global audiences more than six decades into their career.
Their recent studio album Foreign Tongues sparked fresh attention, especially with Sir Paul McCartney making a guest appearance.
Pregnancy Announcement
Ella first announced her pregnancy in March with a black‑and‑white photo showing her baby bump. Richards publicly reacted at the time, sharing his excitement and saying, “Sending love and looking forward to welcoming my first great grandchild!”
Following Luna’s arrival, messages of congratulations poured in. Princess Olympia of Greece commented, “The most beautiful.” Daphne Guinness added, “Happy Birthday! So so sweet @ellarichardsr.” Ella’s sister Alexandra Richards also marked the moment, writing. “Happy happy birthday :) 30s are the best.”
Glimpse into Family Life

Ella is the daughter of Marlon Richards and former model Lucie de la Falaise. Marlon is Keith’s eldest son from his long relationship with actress and model Anita Pallenberg, who died in 2017.
In a past interview with Tatler, Ella offered a rare glimpse into life with her famously wild grandfather, describing him as “very quiet and sweet and loving” and far more shy than people imagine. She also spoke about her unconventional upbringing, saying, “Most of my family are slightly mad and crazy or weird… Everyone is wild and free‑spirited.”
Ella began modeling at 18, appearing in a star‑studded Burberry campaign shot by Mario Testino alongside Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn. She later signed with the Kate Moss Agency and has worked with major fashion houses including Prada, Calvin Klein, Fendi and Valentino. Moss, who is also her godmother, remains a guiding force in her life. Ella has said, “I feel very lucky to have someone who’s been through it all and can guide me.”
