It’s been eight years since the radically liberal comedian Kathy Griffin posed with the simulated severed head of Donald Trump for a disturbing photoshoot. Now, Griffin is speaking out to make the surprising admissions that she has “quite a few” friends who support President Trump.

Griffin Has ‘Quite A Few Trumper Friends’

“I think it’s accepting that people don’t change,” Griffin told People Magazine. “I think I spent a lot of my life, whether it was romantically or career-wise, thinking somebody would change or I could maybe skew someone’s perspective. And now look, believe it or not, I have quite a few Trumper friends.”

“I even have friends that didn’t vote, they didn’t like either candidate,” she continued. “But I think it’s important to be around people that do have different opinions and we get along. So there’s an understanding. And then there are some Trumpers that find me very triggering because of the Trump head picture. So I still am confronted about that photo to this day and complimented about that photo. But I get both.”

Griffin went on to say that she believes it’s necessary to speak out about what she believes in.

“I think a lot of people are fearful, and I am fearless,” Griffin stated. “I’m trying to get a little fear. I don’t have any. If you have any, I’d love some because this fearless thing is kind of scary sometimes. But like I said, whether it’s a court case or marching, organizing or mobilizing, it’s important to have our voices heard.”

“This administration is really coming for the LGBT community and everything, from making conversion therapy legal again, which as a comic was a joke in my act,” Griffin added. “The idea that you think that could work is — it was something to laugh at — now it’s real. And I think it’s important that everybody stay politically engaged even if politics aren’t your thing because gay rights are civil rights.”

Griffin Has ‘Learned So Much…’

Griffin previously opened up about her experience with cancel culture in another interview last month.

“My act has always been my life. But to get my act, I have to go out in the world and be living,” Griffin told US Weekly. “When the Trump photo happened and cancer happened, I felt like my world was caving in. That’s when I became addicted to prescription pills. But I’m still going to laugh, because the idea that I started being a junkie [recently] is just funny… Most of my friends deserted me, and that was the hardest part to deal with.”

When asked what she learned from this experience, Griffin replied, “I’ve learned so much. I thought about my dear departed friend Joan Rivers and how she came back after such adversity, and she always gave me amazing advice. She was no longer with us when the Trump head picture happened, but she knew Donald well.”

“So I had Don Rickles from the grave in my ear saying, ‘Get back on stage,'” she concluded. “I had Joan Rivers saying, ‘Take the check,’ or whatever funny thing she would have said. Something happens to me when my feet hit that stage, where it’s innate now. My first show back, I’ll always remember. I just walked on stage, and the audience stood up, and I was like, “Whoa, wait, I haven’t done anything yet!”

Given how obsessively anti-Trump Griffin is, it’s somewhat hard to believe that she has friends who support the current president. In the end, we can’t imagine why any pro-America conservative would ever want to be friends with Kathy Griffin!
