Kathie Lee Gifford, who has long been known as one of the only openly devout Christian celebrities out there, has always been open about the grief she’s felt over the death of her beloved husband Frank Gifford. On Saturday, she marked the ten year anniversary of his passing.
Kathie Lee Tries To Stay Positive
Frank, who was a legendary NFL star, died on August 9, 2015 days before his 85th birthday. He had been married to Kathie Lee for 29 years at the time of his death.
On Saturday, Kathie Lee took to Instagram to post an emotional message. Though it’s a sad day for her, Kathie Lee tried to stay positive by calling it “a day of rejoicing.”
Kathie Lee kicked off her post by wishing her former TODAY co-host Hoda Kotb a happy 61st birthday.
“Today is a day for rejoicing! First of all, I rejoice for my precious friend, Hoda Mama, on the occasion of her Birthday,” Kathie Lee wrote. “She is one of the most spectacular people I have ever known. I adore her and I want all her dreams to come true.”
Kathie Lee Marks 10 Years Since Frank’s Death
Kathie Lee then shifted to discussing the anniversary of Frank’s death.
“The second thing that I rejoice about, is that my precious husband, Frank, went home to Jesus 10 years ago today and he has been at peace and filled with joy and glory since that very day,” she continued. “I find comfort in that. So, I’m rejoicing in the Lord and how He cares for His loved ones, for His children.”
“Bless all of you today,” Kathie Lee concluded. “And I hope you can find the same kind of Shalom in your lives.”

Meeting Frank Was Fate For Kathie Lee
Kathie Lee has always said that Frank was the love of her life. She previously told People Magazine that meeting Frank was fate. In fact, Kathie Lee described the moment they first crossed paths as being a “God wink.”
“I met Frank Gifford because it was 4 o’clock in the morning at Good Morning America,” Kathie Lee recalled in 2020. She added that she was “walking down one of the hallways and I looked over at somebody in the dressing room — the best set of buns I’ve ever seen in my life — just leaned over a sink putting in contact lenses.”
“I had just had a precursor to Lasik done on my eyes months before and I yelled out, ‘Have I got an operation for you!'” she continued. “To which the body that the buns belonged to retorted, ‘Yeah, with the fool on either end.'”
That moment has allowed Kathie Lee to continue believing in the concept of fate to this day.
“Years later, after 30 years of marriage that’s what’s called a God wink, that’s when the divine and the human intersect,” she added. “I was supposed to be in that hallway that day, he was supposed to be in that room putting in contact lenses.”
“We were supposed to meet and I’d rather anything that happens in the rest of my life to be organic and authentic that way too,” Kathie Lee concluded.
This has clearly been a very difficult few days for Kathie Lee. Please join us in saying a prayer for her!
