It’s been one year since Kate Middleton announced that her cancer was in remission. This came after she spent much of the previous year battling an unspecified form of cancer.
Now, royal experts are speaking out to say that Kate’s grueling cancer battle has “rekindled” her marriage to Prince William.
A Marriage ‘Rekindled’
Kate, 43, announced in March of 2024 that she was battling an unspecified form of cancer. She immediately began undergoing chemotherapy treatments. In September of that year, Kate revealed that she was cancer-free. She later confirmed that her cancer was in remission in January of 2025.
Prior to Kate’s cancer diagnosis, both she and William had faced years of tabloid speculation that all was not well in their marriage. Now that they’ve gone through this, however, the former royal photographer Ian Pelham Turner is claiming that their marriage is going stronger than ever.
“There were ongoing rumors at one time that the marriage between William and Kate may not have been as blissful as publicly portrayed,” Turner told Fox News. “There were ongoing rumors at one time that the marriage between William and Kate may not have been as blissful as publicly portrayed.”
Turner went on to explain that Kate’s cancer battle has likely shown William just how important she is in his life.
“William has been known for his outbursts and Kate has found ways of calming the situation down but personally, I feel after the cancer diagnosis and the threat of losing her, the closeness was rekindled,” Turner continued. “And that is why decisions were made such as their quieter living accommodation rather than a palace to try and lead a normal family life have become their focus.”

More Royal Experts Weigh In
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich was quick to agree with Turner that Kate’s cancer fight brought her and William closer.
“Adversity either destroys a marriage or brings couples closer after shared adversity. Certainly, their marriage has resulted in the latter not the former,” she said. “They never stoop down to ghastly gossip, which is most admirable.”
Many have noticed that William and Kate have been much more publicly affectionate as of late. In November, they made their first red carpet appearance in two years when they attended the annual Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Viral clips showed William kissing Kate’s hand as they exited their car before this event.
Royal expert Helena Chard believes that these public displays of affection are a clear sign that Kate’s health issues have strengthened her marriage.
“William is offering an increased emotional openness and Catherine’s gratitude for William’s support during her cancer treatment, their shared experiences navigating turbulent times and their current fresh start has deepened their relationship,” Chard said. “They enjoy a close bond.”
“Their relationship, focus on family and each other behind closed doors along with Catherine’s emotional resilience and measured approach to her return to public life has created a calm balance and eased any possible pressure of being future Queen,” she added.
William And Kate’s ‘Mutual Love And Respect’
Fordwich chimed back in to agree, saying that William and Kate seem more in love than ever.
“In contrast to royals of the past, Prince William has publicly praised Princess Catherine,” Fordwich said. “By acknowledging their travails candidly with such openness about their challenges, he is both supportive as well as, importantly, speaking from his heart, rendering him all the more relatable and likable.”
“Also totally contrary to royal protocol, all his PDA has shown the hands, literally, of a more modern monarchy,” she concluded. “Overall, they have a mutual love and respect for each other, and it sure shows.”
Kate has always been the epitome of class, grace, and elegance. After such a difficult health situation, we’re glad to see that her challenges seem to only have brought her and William closer.
God bless you both, William and Kate!
