Judge Judy Sheindlin is speaking out this week to reveal why she’s always refused to go to therapy.

Judge Judy Declines To Go To Therapy

On Tuesday, Sheindlin appeared on the former Saturday Night Live! star Amy Poehler’s podcast Good Hang. There, Poehler made a point of noting the strong sense of self that Sheindlin possesses.

“Is there anything you’re not as certain about as you get older?” Poehler asked.

“Younger people — and it may be good — they’re more navel gazers than I am. I sit there and say, ‘Oh my God, are you in or out, or left or right?’” replied Sheindlin, 82. “I’m a ‘what is, what is’ girl. Because I probably could benefit from therapy.”

“Never been?” Poehler questioned.

“Never been,” Sheindlin admitted. “People will say, well, you for sure could benefit from therapy. Say, well, that’s true. But I really don’t wanna know.”

“I’m not that interested in why I feel the way I feel and why this hurts me and why this makes me happy or why this makes me sad,” she continued. “I just wanna say, ‘This makes me sad’. And [see] if I can excise it from my life. So the answer is I’m not that introspective. As I said when I started this chat with you, I’m really not an academic and I’m not inquisitive.”

Sheindlin Isn’t ‘Intellectually Curious’

Sheindlin surprised Poehler, 53, with the way that she opened their conversation.

“Believe it or not, Amy, I’m not intellectually curious … I’m not,” she confessed. “If something is, it is. I don’t have to know why it is. I know it just is. It makes my life much less complicated.”

“I’m not intellectually inquisitive,” Sheindlin added. “If I like the pizza, I like the pizza. If I don’t, I don’t. I don’t wanna know what you put in your pizza so that it would make it a better pizza. I don’t care. I’ll go from Joe’s pizza to Anthony’s pizza, where I know I like it. And not try to change Joe.”

In another clip from this podcast that has gone viral on Instagram, Sheindlin revealed what she wants her “next adventure” to be. Indeed, what she had to say here came as a shock to even her most devoted fans.

“So if I were to say to you, Amy, what I want to do for my next adventure, that I would like you to play with me at doing, I want to steal Baby Judge Judy back from AI,” Sheindlin said. This was a reference to the YouTube show that features an AI-generated baby version of Sheindlin.

“I want to take Baby Judge Judy, and I haven’t shut them down,” Sheindlin explained. “I want to get more people involved with this character…speaking through Baby Judge Judy would be a whole lot of fun…but you need the right writer.”

“Judy’s still pitching me on this,” Poehler hit back with a laugh. She then described this as being a “genius idea.”

Judge Judy Fans Respond

This podcast has already become a smash hit, garnering over 176,000 views on YouTube in just two days.

“I couldn’t love Judge Judy more!!! Love her hat!! Classy lady!! Go Judy!!” one fan commented. Another added, “This friendship is a delight. I want a talk show with the two of you as hosts. This is the duo I never knew I needed.”

“Iconic women being iconic women!” a third social media user wrote. “Not on my bingo card for 2025 but so happy you did interview her! She’s an icon and I’ve been watching her on tv since I was little, in my 30s now. Nobody messes with Judy!”
