Joy Behar has been missing from her ABC talk show The View all week. Now, the reason behind her absence has been revealed.
Behar Goes Missing From The View
Whoopi Goldberg, 70, addressed the absence of Behar, 83, at the start of Thursday’s episode of their talk show.
“I know you see that Joy isn’t here today. She’ll be back next week,” Goldberg said.
“You noticed she wasn’t here,” she continued. “You knew we weren’t lowering her down from the ceiling. But she’ll be back.”
Goldberg had previously revealed on Tuesday that Behar is sick.
“We want to let you know Joy is out, she’s not feeling well, so we want her to feel better and get her behind back here,” Goldberg said.
It should be noted that Behar typically takes Mondays off on The View. Indeed, her typical work week runs from Tuesday through Friday.
Behar’s Previous Absence
Behar previously missed four episodes of The View back in November. When she finally returned to the show, Behar revealed that her absence was due to another health issue. Behar explained this as she addressed the reason why she hadn’t walked out at the start of the episode as she normally would. Instead, she was already sitting down. This was reportedly because Behar was having difficulty walking at the time.
“Now, I’ve been off for a few days,” Behar told the audience.
“I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe,” she added. “And they put the toes together because it’s broken, and it’s very, very, very painful. I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes.”
Behar was one of the original hosts of “The View” when it premiered back in 1997, and though she was fired in 2013, she was brought back two years later and has remained on the show ever since.
Back in 2022, Behar claimed to Time Magazine that she was “happy” to be fired from the show.
“I always have friends where I work, and if I don’t have friends at the job, I will not keep the job,” Behar explained. “So, when I was fired last time from this show, people say to me, ‘Were you okay with that?’ and my answer is, I was happy, because all my friends had left already. So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it.”
Behar Admits She Didn’t Want To Leave The View
Behar previously admitted that it wasn’t her decision to leave The View when she was fired back in 2013.
“Somebody wanted me gone,” she told People Magazine in 2017. “It was not 100 percent my choice.”
“When they told me they weren’t renewing, I said, ‘Good, I’m out of here.’ I didn’t like the way the show was going at that time,” Behar continued.
Behar went on to say that she was never given a straight answer as to why she was fired.
“The way I heard it, and I don’t know what’s true because you never know, they got rid of a Republican so they wanted to get rid of a Democrat,” she said. “That’s not the first time I’ve been fired for my politics. So I wasn’t shocked at that analysis.”
These days, Behar has become a mainstay on The View. There, she enjoys bashing President Donald Trump and his fellow conservatives on a daily basis.
In the end, we can’t say that Behar has been missed on the airwaves this week. While we hope that she feels better soon, we also hope that she decides to take a longer hiatus from The View.
Good riddance, Joy Behar!
