Things got weird on the ABC talk show The View once again on Thursday morning when host Joy Behar bizarrely begged the comedian Sarah Silverman to kiss her.
The View Goes Off The Rails Again
Silverman, 54, was on The View to promote her new Netflix special “PostMortem,” which dropped on May 20. All seemed to be going normally for the bulk of the eight minute interview. However, as the segment came to an end, Behar, 82, shocked everyone by begging Silverman to kiss her.
“It’s always fun to see you,” Behar gushed. Silverman responded by saying, “I love seeing you!”
“You want to do the goodbye?” co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked.
“Kiss me,” Behar quietly but firmly insisted to Silverman. The comedian then dutifully leaned in for the kiss. Behar immediately leaned in as well, and the two women locked lips as the audience cheered.
“How’s her breath?” co-host Ana Navarro quipped.
“We’ll all do it,” Behar added afterwards. However, nobody else kissed.
Just imagine what would happen if an elderly male television personality begged a younger female comedian to kiss him! Indeed, all Hell would break loose, and he would likely be fired on the spot. Since it was Behar who did this, however, she will undoubtedly be given a free pass.

Silverman’s Serious Interview
Behar begging Silverman for a kiss was even more inappropriate, given the serious subject matter of the interview that preceeded it. Indeed, Silverman had told the panel on The View that she wrote this Netflix special as she was grieving the deaths of her father and stepmother, who died just nine days apart from each other in 2023.
“I recorded a special and before this one, the one before that was coming out as my dad and my stepmom were dying, and so when you’re finished with a special, you’re at zero again with material,” Silverman explained to Behar and her co-hosts.
“I had no material so when I went back to stand-up, that’s what my life was, you know, so I literally went from, cleaning up their apartment with my sisters all day to the club and then that’s what I talked about,” she continued. “It was a good jumping off point because I spoke at my dad’s funeral.”
The official synopsis of Silverman’s special states that she “hilariously navigates the absurdities of death with her signature wit, from unexpectedly finding the deal of a lifetime while planning their funerals to cherishing the bittersweet experience of hearing her mother’s last words.”
While Silverman clearly approached an incredibly tragic situation with humor, it certainly doesn’t seem like this was the right time to beg for a kiss, Joy.

Behar’s Previous Bizarre Moment On The View
Behar was one of the original co-hosts of The View back in 1997. She is now the oldest co-host on the panel.
Behar’s kiss with Silverman is far from the first time that she’s done something odd on The View, however. On a September of 2023 episode, Behar shocked everyone when the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey gave her a foot rub live on air. This was actually the second time this happened, as they’d gone viral back in 2006 for the same thing.
In the 2023 episode, Behar described the initial foot massage 17 years before as being the “highlight” of her life. She coyly added that she’d made sure to get a pedicure after learning that McConaughey was coming back on The View. This prompted McConaughey to give Behar a foot rub once again.
Whether you like Behar or not, you can’t deny that she is certainly is one strange lady. In the end, we would definitely think twice before being seated next to Behar for an interview on The View!
