Jon Bon Jovi is “fully recovered” following vocal cord surgery.
Fully Recovered

The rocker feared not performing again as one of his vocal cords “atrophied,” and the other was “dying,” but after resting and retraining his instrument following the 2022 operation, he is ready to return to the stage for Bon Jovi’s upcoming Forever Tour.
He told People, “I’m fully recovered. It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.”
The Livin’ on a Prayer hitmaker, 64, underwent vocal cord medialization to repair a damaged vocal cord after it deteriorated at the end of Bon Jovi’s 2022 tour.
He told the publication, “I’d often joked and said the only thing that’s ever been up my nose was my finger. I never did anything to hurt the cords; I didn’t have any excesses. I’m a trained vocalist. I’ve practiced the craft.”
“So when a doctor had to explain to me that one of the cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing.”
Grateful for His Band & Life
Jon is grateful for the support from his bandmates, 64-year-old David Bryan (keyboardist), 63-year-old Everett Bradley (percussionist), 75-year-old Hugh McDonald (bassist), 61-year-old John Shanks (guitarist), 72-year-old Tico Torres (drummer), and 60-year-old Phil X (guitarist).
The Grammy winner said, “They never doubted [me] and never looked for work or decided to retire. The sacrifices that each one of them have made to be there for me is on a whole ’nother level. They said, ‘No, we’re with you.’ Every day of every rehearsal, they were there with me. My love for them has only deepened.”
Jon’s health ordeal has made him appreciate the little things in life.
He shared, “Well, outside of work, what brings me joy is realizing that the sun is shining. It sounds a little trite, but it’s not. I used to always have my nose to the grindstone, always put my head down, thinking of tomorrow, never living in the today. This forced me to not only live in the today but be appreciative for every today that’s still here.”
Jon, whose son, Jake Bongiovi, 24, and daughter-in-law, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, 22, adopted a baby girl in 2025, added, “So the simple joys of waking up with my granddaughter today, playing tennis with some guys that I’ve never met before, staring at the little puffy cloud in the sky…”
“This is it. This is as real as it gets. That’s joy.”
Upcoming Performances

The entertainer, who also has a daughter, Stephanie Bongiovi, 33, and sons Jesse Bongiovi, 31, and Romeo Bongiovi, 22, with his 63-year-old wife, Dorothea, will be back on stage with his bandmates on July 7, when the band’s Forever Tour starts with a nine-night residency at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
Bon Jovi then heads to England, Scotland, and Ireland for more shows.
