Candace Cameron Bure has long been known as one of the only openly devout Christians in Hollywood. Sadly, Cameron Bure has gotten quite a lot of flack for this over the years.

Now, Cameron Bure’s Christian faith is being defended by her former Full House sister Jodie Sweetin. Indeed, Sweetin is saying that while she doesn’t agree with Cameron Bure’s conservative politics, she has no problem with her being a proud Christian.

Sweetin Has ‘Zero Problem’ With Cameron Bure’s Faith

Cameron Bure, 49, and Sweetin, 43, grew up playing sisters on Full House. That sitcom aired from 1987 until 1995. While appearing on “The Moment” podcast, Sweetin opened up about the decades-long, sometimes complicated dynamic that she’s shared with Cameron Bure.

“She was the closest thing I had to a sister. We fought like sisters, even when we were kids, that’s the relationship we had,” Sweetin explained. “Candace’s faith, to be quite honest, has always been at the forefront for her. And I have zero problem with that.”

“I have no problem with religion if it brings you peace and happiness. Not necessarily saying that her brand of religion is not necessarily peace and happiness,” she continued. “I don’t really know.”

Sweetin Is ‘Not A Christian’

However, that’s when Sweetin shifted to becoming a bit more critical of Cameron Bure.

“I do know that I don’t think you can truly love people if you don’t respect them,” Sweetin added. “I think if you don’t respect people enough to allow them the same rights of marriage, of bodily autonomy and all those things, then I don’t think that you can truly love someone. It’s some sort of weird pity, and it’s not love. For me, standing up to say that how we treat other humans because they’re different from us is completely unacceptable. And I’m pretty sure that is what Jesus would’ve said, but what do I know? I’m not a Christian.”

Sweetin concluded by saying that it’s alright with her if people dislike her because of her political opinions.

“It’s OK, you don’t have to like me. But I try not to let other people’s perceptions of who I should be put up any barriers of what I want to be,” Sweetin stated. “Candace and I are very different in that regard.”

Indeed, it’s unclear from that where exactly Sweetin and Cameron Bure stand these days. However, at least Sweetin didn’t outright slam Cameron Bure for being a Christian. Indeed, that is more than much of the rest of Hollywood can say.

Cameron Bure Overcomes Cancel Culture

This comes weeks after Cameron Bure herself opened up about how she’s dealt with being a target of cancel culture due to her faith.

“In 2022 and 2023, it was a really hard year for me because of some things with work and movie networks and a lot of things. Bad things were said about me that just weren’t true and headlines that were made up,” she said during her “Candace Cameron Bure” podcast earlier this month. “I felt like my character was just thrown in the gutter, you know? I felt like I had lived such a life of integrity and honesty, and so it really hurt.”

“It wasn’t just about what people were saying. But it resulted in contract losses and partnerships that dissolved and went away and friendships that just disappeared,” she recalled. “It just felt like it wasn’t going to end. I felt like I was on a witness stand for a year, and it felt awful.”

It was in 2022 that Cameron Bure became Great American Family’s chief creative officer. At the time, she faced fierce backlash by immediately announcing that the network would not feature same-sex couples in leading roles.

In the end, it was Cameron Bure’s strong faith in God that helped her to overcome this difficult time in her life.

While it’s unclear of these Full House sisters are still close, we’re glad that Sweetin at least spoke out to say that she has “zero problem” with Cameron Bure’s faith being at the forefront of her life.

After all the joy each of these actresses brought to the world on Full House, it would be nice if they could find common ground. Only time will tell if that ever happens!
