The former First Lady Jill Biden is slamming her husband’s former Vice President Kamala Harris in a scathing new memoir.
Jill Torches Harris
Jill’s memoir “View from the East Wing” is set to hit stores on Tuesday, June 2. In the book, she accuses Harris of acting like a “courtroom prosecutor” in her insistence that President Joe Biden immediately endorse her for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination after he ended his own campaign for a second term.
In an excerpt from her memoir that was published by USA Today, Jill recalled Joe calling Harris on July 21, 2024 to inform her that he would be ending his bid for reelection. This came after his infamously disastrous presidential debate against President Donald Trump.
“Oh my God, Joe. Are you sure?” Jill claims that Harris asked Joe in response. From there, Harris reportedly wasted no time in demanding that Joe back her in her own bid for the presidency.
Joe reportedly responded by suggesting that they wait until the next morning. Harris, however, was not having any of it. Indeed, according to Jill, Harris argued that any delay in Joe endorsing her would open the door to “mischief.” It seems that Harris feared that a delay would give Democrats the opportunity to get behind someone else other than herself.
“I want it sooner,” Harris allegedly told Joe.
“”I’ll call you back when I figure this out,” Joe replied.
“Could you do it soon?” Harris fired back. “Say, in twenty minutes?”
At that point, Jill couldn’t take it anymore, so she left the room.
Joe ended up endorsing Harris in a second statement released around 30 minutes after he announced that he was dropping out of the race. Harris went on to lose to Trump in the presidential election, coming up short in both the popular and electoral vote.
Jill And Harris’ Tumultuous History
It has long been known that there is no love lost between Jill, 74, and Harris, 61.
Jill reportedly never forgave Harris for attacking Biden when she was running against him for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. She specifically took issue with an attack Harris made on Joe during a June of 2019 debate. There, Harris criticized Joe’s opposition to bussing, a way of racially integrating public schools, as a senator in the 1970s.
One week after the debate, Jill defended her husband during a conference call with supporters. In reference to Harris, Jill said, “With what he cares about, what he fights for, what he’s committed to, you get up there and call him a racist without basis? Go [expletive] yourself.”
Jill was later allegedly unhappy that Joe picked Harris as his running mate.
“There are millions of people in the United States,” Jill is quoted as saying. “Why … do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe?”
Given Jill’s latest comments about Harris in her memoir, it seems that these two won’t be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon. In the end, this all serves as a reminder of just how chaotic the Biden White House truly was behind the scenes.
There’s nothing quite like some good old fashioned Democrat infighting. So much for unity and joy!
