Back in January of this year, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. Now, insiders are claiming that Lopez isn’t open to dating again as she heads into 2026.
Lopez Is Ready For Single Life
“It’s all about work and the kids for her,” a source told People Magazine. “She seems happy and content.”
Lopez, 56, shares 17-year-old twins Maximilian “Max” David Muniz and Emme Maribel Muniz with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. She filed for divorce from Affleck in August of 2024. Two months later, Lopez told Interview Magazine that she was excited to be single after being in “different challenging situations” throughout the years.
“Now I’m excited, when you say you’re just going to be on your own,” Lopez said at the time. “Yes, I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I [expletive] do when it’s just me flying on my own … what if I’m just free?”
While appearing on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show in October of 2025, Lopez revealed that she doesn’t plan to use dating apps like Raya because she is “old-fashioned.” She also vaguely discussed her four ex-husbands, albeit not mentioning anyone by name.
“What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable. It’s that they’re not capable,” she said. “They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside of them, they need to love them.”
Lopez And Affleck’s History
Though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. Indeed, she married Anthony while he married the former Alias star Jennifer Garner. Lopez and Anthony were married from 2004 until 2014. Meanwhile, Affleck was married to Garner from 2005 until 2018.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They then married in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
Lopez And Affleck Reunite
Despite their split, Lopez and Affleck are still on good terms. Last week, Lopez reunited with Affleck and his son Samuel, 13, on Sunday for some shopping and lunch at Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles. A source told People Magazine that the former couple “seemed fine.” The insider added that their main focus appeared to be on Samuel.
“They met up and went shopping together. Jen and Ben seemed fine,” the insider alleged. “The focus was mostly on Sam.”
“He was excited and chatty. They shopped for gifts in several high-end stores,” the source continued. “Jen asked a lot of questions and picked up gifts for Ben’s kids. They arrived and left separately.”
After her divorce from Affleck, we can certainly see why Lopez wants to stay single for awhile. Here’s hoping that 2026 is a better year for Lopez than 2025 was!
