It’s been one year since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage. Now, insiders are claiming that Lopez is desperate for a career comeback as she continues to struggle to move on from this painful divorce.
Lopez Pushing Herself To Exhaustion
Lopez, 56, has reportedly been pushing herself to exhaustion preparing for upcoming shows in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Jennifer is rehearsing night and day to make sure the show is spectacular, better than ever,” an insider told Daily Mail. “She is working 13-hour days at a studio in North Hollywood with her back-up dancers to make certain she looks like she is on top of her game. She always says she wants to be ‘better than yesterday,’ it’s her thing.”
Lopez flew to Las Vegas from Los Angeles on a private plane on Thursday night. She’s eager to put in the work in the hopes that her shows will be considered one of the top draws in Sin City.
“Everyone is going to the Sphere these days, that is the town’s big deal,” the source added. “So she wants to prove that a more old-fashioned concert at the Colosseum is still the place to be.”
The source went on to claim that Lopez is determined to show fans that even in her mid-50s, she’s still in her prime and can perform like no other.
“Jennifer loves to work, she never complains, it’s her jam,” the insider explained. “Some people like to vacation on the beach in Hawaii, and some like to work nonstop. Jennifer is the latter. She feels proud to be doing so well at her age and as a Latina woman.”
The source concluded by saying that Lopez is planning to feature some guests in her act.
“There will be a lot of excitement and surprise stars,” the insider said.
Lopez Sounds Off
Lopez herself opened up about her Las Vegas shows earlier this week.
“We’re very excited,” Lopez told Extra. “We’re doing the show again in Vegas and we’re there every weekend in March, which is exciting and adding some new songs to the show. It’s been a while since I put out a new song, but David Guetta had this song [Save Me Tonight] and I just loved it. It just felt very much of the moment for me.”
Lopez described the concert as being “the quintessential JLo Show.”
“You see who I am, I think, as not just an entertainer, a performer, but as an artist and as a human,” she teased. “I still do all my hits and all the songs that people know me for, but it’s really done in a very fresh and exciting way.”
Lopez concluded by revealing why she’s working so hard on this show.
“I’m in my happy era and I have that in the show… I’ve never looked at it as a job. It’s just what I love to do,” she explained. “And I just feel fortunate that I have these amazing fans who’ve supported me for so many years and there’s so much love that I feel that I always want to be giving the love back to them.”
“It’s just been an incredible blessing in my life,” Lopez said. “I don’t know what I would do without it.”
Lopez And Affleck’s History
This comes after a difficult few years for Lopez that saw her marry and divorce Affleck, 53. Indeed, though they were only married for two years, Lopez and Affleck’s love story goes back decades.
Lopez and Affleck met in December of 2001 on the set of their infamous movie Gigli. They became engaged the next year, only to shock fans by calling off their planned wedding in 2003 just days before it was set to take place.
Lopez and Affleck each went on to marry and divorce different people. She married the singer Marc Anthony while he married the former Alias star Jennifer Garner.
Lopez and Anthony were married from 2004 until 2014, welcoming twins during that time. Meanwhile, Affleck was married to Garner from 2005 until 2018. During that time, they had three children.
Lopez and Affleck reunited and quickly rekindled their romance in April of 2021. They then married in July of 2022.
Sadly, it didn’t take long for their marriage to go off the rails. Lopez filed for divorce in August of 2024, citing their date of separation as April 26 of that year. Their divorce was finalized in January of 2025.
Since her divorce, Lopez’s career has been in a bit of a lull. Only time will tell if she is able to achieve the comeback that she craves with these Las Vegas shows!
