We previously reported that the country music star Jelly Roll had filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie XO after nearly ten years of marriage. Now, Bunnie has broken her silence in the wake of this split.
Bunnie Breaks Her Silence
On the latest episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast, Bunnie opened up about how her divorce came to be.
“On Mother’s Day we had a little bit of an argument which I don’t think the details are necessary, and in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, then file the [expletive] divorce papers,'” said Bunnie, 46.
“I didn’t talk to my husband for, I don’t know, weeks after that,” she continued. “During that, he was so mad, and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers. Was I blindsided and was this divorce mutual? No, I was not. It was not mutual. Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration. But was it necessary for us to have a wakeup call and to actually start having these real conversations? Absolutely.”
As soon as Bunnie learned that Jelly had filed for divorce, she began taking hormone replacement therapy and going to therapy. When asked why she did these things, Bunnie recalled that she was telling herself “I’ve got to [expletive] pull myself out of this hole.”
Even though they are divorcing, Bunnie wants the world to know that Jelly Roll is still her best friend. Indeed, according to her, no matter “how [expletive] up our relationship was” or how bad their communication skills were, she had hope, saying, “I felt like we deserved a chance to go to therapy and figure [expletive] out. He didn’t feel that way and I respect it.”
Jelly Files For Divorce
Jelly, 41, filed for divorce from Bunnie on May 18. He cited irreconcilable differences at the time, and noted May 9 as their date of separation. Though it’s been one month, their split was only revealed to the world earlier this week.
“The sad part is that Bunnie stood by him through everything,” a source told Page Six. “She was there before the fame, before all the awards, before his sold out shows. She stayed through some incredibly difficult periods, including challenges that would have ended a lot of marriages.”
“Jelly Roll and Bunnie eventually had to be honest with themselves that they weren’t building the same future anymore,” the insider added. The source went on to say that despite this, they believe that there is still a “tremendous amount of love” between Jelly and Bunnie.
