The country music star Jelly Roll has been on a weight loss journey over the past few months that has seen him lose over 140 pounds. In a new interview, Jelly Roll is celebrating this major health achievement.

Just imagine the relief of, basically, no longer carrying around what amounts to an entire person!

Jelly Roll’s Latest Fitness Milestone

The weight loss is already paying huge dividends for the formerly rotund singer, allowing him to do things he never could have done before.

“I hiked a mountain the other day. Camelback,” Jelly Roll, 40, told E! News last Friday. “There is no way that would have been possible beforehand, so it’s great to see that progress and we still are going.”

Though Jelly Roll has been open about his weight loss, he admitted that it’s not always as easy for him to stay positive amidst this journey as it may seem.

For anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight, they know that it’s relatively easy at first, and gets progressively harder to continue losing weight – while also keeping it off.

“It isn’t always the case where I feel focused or positive,” Jelly Roll confessed. “The things that motivate me and keep me going are the people I have met along the way… The people that come up to me and bravely share their sobriety date, or a story of something that they’ve dealt with, or someone they’ve lost.”

“Seeing the resilience of the human spirit, there is no greater motivation than to keep going,” he added.

Jelly Roll is someone who knows a thing or two about resiliency. Indeed, the country music star has overcome addiction and even spent over a year in prison for aggravated robbery and drug charges.

Back in November, Jelly Roll revealed that he was “down about 120” pounds. He said that he’d brought a nutritionist on tour to help him with his diet. When Jelly Roll wasn’t busy performing, he’d stay active by playing basketball and going for walks.

The only problem we can see is that his artist name – his real name is Jason DeFord – is based on his (formerly) larger-than-life size!

Jelly Roll Opens Up About Losing Weight Publicly

While appearing on his wife Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast in December, Jelly Roll revealed why exactly he’s decided to be open with his fans about his weight loss journey.

“I did this publicly for a reason,” he explained. “I want to be honest about my struggles with it with people. I wore it for so long.”

“I think that people that become as big as I became, when they lose the weight, they’re kind of ashamed,” Jelly Roll continued. “They’re so ashamed that they go and hide and lose the weight, and then they come back out, and they don’t really know how to interact with the world, looking different or feeling different, you know? And they kind of got to find their whole new way.”

“I wanted to lose it in front of everybody,” he added. “I wanted to talk about it … This is constantly what I’m putting in the air because I want to bring people along with me.”

Jelly Roll’s 2026 Goal

And Jelly Roll isn’t done yet! In fact, he already has a goal in mind for next year.

“I wanna be on the cover of ‘Men’s Health’ by March of 2026,” he disclosed. “That’s my new goal. So I wanna have one of the biggest transformations.”

Jelly Roll is indeed an inspiration to millions of fans in a wide variety of ways. We wish him the best of luck as he continues with his weight loss journey, and we hope he ends up achieving his 2026 goal!
