The Hollywood star Jane Seymour, who is best known for her work in movies like Live And Let Die and in television shows like Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, is speaking out to offer women some advice about aging.

Seymour’s Aging Advice

“Don’t take it for granted. It isn’t easy,” Seymour, 72, told People Magazine. “The balance of how you come across and how you conduct yourself is huge, sadly.”

“But also I’ve never given up. I now have my own series again, and I’m in my 70s,” she continued. “So I say to women, ‘Don’t give up and be authentic.’ Don’t pretend to be 20 when you’re 70. Be 70.”

Seymour gave this interview from The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday. She loved having the chance to celebrate the progress that women have made in the entertainment industry.

“It’s a great honor, and it’s wonderful because I’ve been working in entertainment since I was 13, so that’s 60 years, and to see how women are really having their moment now and telling their stories and telling stories normally wouldn’t have been told is very empowering,” Seymour gushed.

Seymour Praises Selena Gomez

Seymour chose to praise one woman in particular, Selena Gomez, who received the Equity in Entertainment Award at this event.

“I just saw Selena’s movie last night,” Seymour said of the crime musical Emilia Pérez. “I was blown away. They were all incredible. There’s so many amazing young actresses… she’s being honored today for very good reason. To cross genres and to do both is fantastic.”

Gomez, 32, gave a powerful speech while accepting her award.

“This award isn’t just for me, it’s for so many other people who don’t have voices and have been overlooked, pushed aside, and most importantly have been disrespected,” she said.

Though Seymour is now in her 70s, she is still as busy as ever. She is set to head to England next month to film a movie. She’s also hopeful that her television series Harry Wild will be picked up for a fifth season.

Seymour is thriving in her personal life as well. Her son Sean, 39, is set to get married next year.

“I’m enjoying my life,” she stated. “I’ve got grandchildren, kids, an amazing extended family and there’s a lot of joy in my life right now.”

Seymour’s Previous Aging Advice

This isn’t the first time that Seymour has spoken out to give women advice on aging.

“Try to be as healthy as you can because health is beauty,” she told Fox News in 2020. “And try to be healthy emotionally, because I think that’s really important too. I think my mother had the trick. She was 92 when she passed and she was radiantly beautiful having survived a kidney removed when she was seven, concentration camp for three and a half years.”

“To my knowledge, she never exercised once in her life,” Seymour continued. “She definitely ate all the wrong things. But she spent her life with an open heart helping other people. She always said, ‘Darling, however bad something seems to be for you, you don’t have to look far to find someone much worse off.’ And she said quite often, ‘You can help just with a phone call or a cup of tea.’ You just don’t know what it is that you can do to impact someone else and when you do, it fills your heart.”

We can all certainly learn a lot from Seymour’s advice on aging. God bless you, Jane Seymour!
