Earlier this month, we reported that Howard Stern’s eponymous SiriusXM radio show is “to be canceled.” Now, things have gotten even worse for Stern. Indeed, insiders are shockingly alleging that this was all actually a desperate attempt to save Stern’s fledgling career.

Earlier in August, it was claimed that Stern and his staff of 95 people were “blindsided” by reports that The Howard Stern Show will be ending at the end of this year. The program has been on SiriusXM since 2006. Viewership has plummeted over the years. Indeed, it has declined from 20 million a week in the 1990s to as low as 125,000 today.

This week, Stern took to social media to tease his return next month.

“Fired? Retiring? Canceled? Bye-Bye Booey? Howard Stern will speak,” he wrote. “Tuesday, September 2. Only on @siriusxm #Howard100.”

Now, insiders are shockingly alleging that the entire “show being canceled” narrative was orchestrated from within The Howard Stern Show. These sources claim that this was nothing more than a “desperate hoax” to drum up publicity. The goal of it is reportedly to “try and make Stern relevant again.”

Stern’s ‘Desperate’ Move

“They’re desperately trying to make this thing to go viral to try to boost his numbers for his return on September 2,” the insider told Daily Mail. “His numbers are down so low that they’re desperately trying to make him relevant and get people to tune in to see what he’s going to say about getting ‘fired’ from Sirius.”

“It was something they came up with on a viral scale to get people to tune in again,” the source continued. “The numbers are so pathetic that they don’t know what to do.”

This insider went on to say that Stern “sold out his own audience so bad” by mocking Donald Trump voters and telling them he “didn’t want them listening to his show anymore.” This has resulted in Stern taking some radical steps in the hopes of winning them back.

“From what I understand, this (the September 2 launch) is sort of going to be like a mea culpa to get the audience that he alienated back to listening to him,” the insider explained. This source then said that Stern would attempt a dramatic reinvention “into something he used to be.”

“Stern could’ve retired 10 years ago,” the insider concluded. “He’s not planning on retiring any time soon.”

Stern Determined To Give His Haters A ‘Rude Awakening’

A second source is alleging that Stern wants to give his haters a “rude awakening” when he confirms his new contract with SiriusXM next month.

“Howard anticipates to have a new contract with Sirius and to announce that upon his return to the airwaves on September 2,” the insider claimed.

A third source close to Stern spoke out to say that “all the rumors will be addressed.” This insider also warned Stern’s critics about a “rude awakening” that is coming. The source concluded by saying that what some see as Stern’s downfall will actually be “the beginning of his next chapter.”

Stern’s Own Staffers Turn On Him

Stern was once known as the shock jock of radio. That’s all changed in recent years, as he’s become just another mouthpiece for the radical left. Even Stern’s own staffers have admitted that he’s become “irrelevant.”

“Everyone knows he hasn’t been the same since COVID,” one Stern employee told The New York Post. “He does the show from his [Southampton] basement. And it’s been sad to see how irrelevant he’s become.”

“I don’t know if its wokeness that alienated some of his audience, or if he just got tamer with age, but whatever it is, it’s apparent no one wants to hear it anymore,” the staffer continued.

In the end, it might be too late for Stern to save his career. It’s safe to say that Stern has learned the hard way that the concept of “go woke, go broke” is very real indeed!
