Last week, we reported that Howard Stern’s eponymous SiriusXM radio show is “to be canceled.” Now, things have gotten even worse for Stern. Indeed, he’s been hit with more humiliation as his own staffers are reportedly turning on him.
While Stern was said to be “blindsided” by the news that his show is likely to be axed, his staffers reportedly saw it coming from a mile away.
Stern’s Staffers Knew This Was Coming
Indeed, two staffers told The New York Post that the writing has been on the writing has “been on the wall for well over a year now” that SiriusXM would not be renewing Stern’s massive $500 million contract. This came after Stern saw his audience plummet from 20 million a day to a measly 125,000.
In fact, the situation had become so dire that writers for The Howard Stern Show have been saving their best jokes for themselves in preparation for the program’s demise.
“Most of us have been coasting at work the last year,” one staffer alleged, adding that this is because “we know he’s retiring, whether by choice or because he’s forced out.”
Stern’s employees have even already started putting out feelers for other gigs in show business.
“It’s been hard, because the industry [in New York City] is so incestuous, so you don’t know who’s talking to who,” the unnamed employee continued. “I’m just hanging in there until this is all sorted out, and then I will take some time to unwind after all this. I’m a fan and it’s been a big part of my life for so long, but it hasn’t been fun for a while.”

Stern Goes Woke – His Viewership Plummets
Stern’s viewership began majorly declining when his show took a majorly political turn in recent years. Once known as a shock jock, Stern has changed massively as of late.
These days, he brags about being “woke” and bashes Donald Trump on his show seemingly every chance he gets. Stern was blindly loyal to Joe Biden and an annoyingly ardent supporter of Kamala Harris during the last election cycle. This ultimately turned off many of Stern’s most loyal listeners.
“I don’t know if its wokeness that alienated some of his audience, or if he just got tamer with age, but whatever it is, it’s apparent no one wants to hear it anymore,” the second staffer admitted.
The first staffer chimed back in to claim that Stern’s political turn on his show was done to appease his A-list celebrity friends.
“I think he’s content to be out in there in the Hamptons with his celebrity friends,” this staffer stated. “He likes being liked by famous people. That seems more important [to him] than his legacy.”
Stern Has Become ‘Irrelevant’
The second staffer explained that Stern has become “a hermit” since the pandemic.
“Everyone knows he hasn’t been the same since COVID,” this employee said. “He does the show from his [Southampton] basement. And it’s been sad to see how irrelevant he’s become.”
In the end, Stern’s attitude has rubbed off on staffers. That’s why they may not be as sad about the show ending as some would think.
“His passion hasn’t been there, and that can be infectious,” the first staffer concluded. “When your boss doesn’t even seem like he wants to be there, its like, why should I bust my [expletive]?”
Many feel that Stern is just another celebrity who has sold out to the left. For the sake of The Howard Stern Show’s legacy, perhaps it’s for the best that it ends now.
While we can’t say that we’re fans of Stern these days, we wish his staffers the best of luck in their future endeavors. Here’s hoping that they land on their feet!
