Last week, we reported that Meghan Markle is returning to acting for the first time since she married Prince Harry back in 2018. This came as a surprise to many, as Meghan had long said that she was “done” with acting forever.
Now, royal experts are speaking out to reveal what Harry allegedly thinks about Meghan’s Hollywood comeback.
Meghan’s Hollywood Comeback
Meghan is reportedly playing herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends. The movie also stars Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and Lily Collins. An insider confirmed to People Magazine that Meghan “has a small part” in the film.
Many wondered if Harry would have some reservations about Meghan returning to acting for the first time since their 2018 wedding. However, the royal expert Kinsey Schofield, host of Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, firmly believes that Meghan’s Hollywood comeback has actually come as a “relief” to Harry.
“If Meghan is on set it means she’s not at home filming intimate moments to share on social media,” Schofield told Daily Mail.
“I imagine it’s a relief. Plus, happy wife… happy life,” she added. “Harry goes out of his way to give Meghan want she wants and has from day one.”
This was a reference to recent reports alleging that Harry isn’t happy about how much Meghan is posting their family to social media.
At the end of October, Meghan, 44, took to Instagram to share videos of Harry, 41, and their two young children Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, at a pumpkin patch. In the videos, they were seen running through mazes and carving jack-o’-lanterns.
Harry ‘Doesn’t Love’ What Meghan’s Doing
On top of that, Meghan took to her Instagram Stories to post a photo of herself with Harry and the LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson watching Game 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium.
None of this sat well with Harry, who has spent years calling for privacy for himself and his family.
“He’s very aware of her parading him around,” an insider told Page Six. “He doesn’t love the social media displays.”
According to Schofield, Harry would much rather Meghan return to acting herself than parade their family on social media. If the royal expert is correct in that assessment, perhaps Meghan’s Hollywood comeback will benefit her marriage and her family after all.
‘A Massive Moment For Meghan’
This comes after a studio source claimed that Meghan’s acting return is a positive step forward for her.
“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves,” the studio insider told The Sun of Meghan’s return to acting. “She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.”
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set,” the source added. “Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”
Meghan Was ‘Done’ With Acting
News of Meghan’s acting return has come as a shock to the public, given how adamant she has been about leaving the profession behind for good.
In 2022, Meghan was specifically asked by Variety if she would even consider returning to acting.
“I’m done,” she fired back. “I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
Meghan made similar comments after announcing her engagement to Harry in 2017. At the time, it appeared clear that Meghan had no intention of ever acting again.
“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change,” Meghan told People at the time. “It’s a new chapter. Right? And also keep in mind I’ve been working on my show for seven years. So, we’re very very fortunate to be able to have that sort of longevity on a series.”
“And, for me, once we hit the 100-episode marker, I thought, ‘You know what, I have ticked this box, and I feel really proud of the work I’ve done there. And now it’s time to, as you said, work as a team with you,'” she added.
Meghan Doubles Down
Meghan went on to double down by indicating that her acting days were very much behind her.
“I think what’s been really exciting as we talk about the transition out of my career and into my role is the causes that are really important to me that I can focus even more energy on,” she concluded. “Very early out of the gate, I think you realize you have access or a voice that people are willing to listen, and with that comes a lot of responsibility, which I take seriously.”
When Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals nearly six years ago, they claimed to desperately want privacy. Ever since then, however, they’ve shown that they seemingly want as much attention as possible. Indeed, Meghan’s return to acting appears to confirm that privacy is actually the last thing that she wants.
