The beloved comedian George Lopez reemerged on Thursday to be interviewed on The Jennifer Hudson Show. When it came time for Lopez to appear, however, fans were left stunned by his ‘disheveled’ new look.

Or is it an ‘old’ look?

Lopez’s Shocking Appearance

Lopez’s new look includes long, poofy shoulder-length gray hair with a mustache and beard. Video that has since gone viral shows Lopez, 63, backstage at The Jennifer Hudson Show dancing his way to his interview.

“Oh my gosh! George is at the happy place now!” staffers could be heard singing to Lopez. It turns out that it’s a tradition on this talk show for staffers to have a sing-along with guests backstage.

Lopez seemed to have a blast with the sing-along, dancing wildly with his hands in the air. He even shook his crazy hair for the camera at one point.

“I love you so much, thank you!” he told the staffers at the end of the video as he walked onstage.

Fans Respond

Fans, however, were left in shock by the way Lopez looks.

“What happened to dude. He was normal looking 5 years ago,” one fan commented. Another added, “At first i thought it was a homeless man. Did he just come from under a rock?”

“Almost didn’t recognize him with the long hair. George Lopez now George of the Jungle,” a third fan wrote. A fourth questioned, “Damn, he sticking his fingers in sockets again?”

“He’s looking like a Latino Einstein … but I love his energy lol,” yet another social media user commented.

Lopez’s New Comedy Special

Meanwhile, Lopez went on The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote his new comedy special Muy Católico. The special is set to drop on Amazon Prime on Tuesday. The show is being billed as Lopez’s “final” comedy special.

When host Jennifer Hudson asked if he plans to “retire,” Lopez replied, “Yeah, I think in the next couple of years.”

As the audience moaned in dismay, Lopez joked, “I need time to condition my hair!”

“You know, it’s been a wonderful 45 years and I think maybe I’ll go, Jennifer, until it’s 50 years, 2029,” Lopez continued. “You’ve got me for four more years.”

Lopez Claims This Is His ‘Last One’

This special was filmed at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood in September of 2024. Variety reported that the special “sees Lopez musing on getting older, Latino family dynamics, generational clashes, superstitions and cultural quirks.”

One month after filming the special, Lopez revealed in another interview that he plans for this one to be his “last.”

“It is the last one,” Lopez said on The Tamron Hall Show. “I’ve subjected the American people to enough of my crap,’ he said on the show.”

“It seems like the right time; it’s been the one thing that has just never left me my whole life and it’s a wonderful place to leave it at this particular point,” he added.

Lopez is one of the most talented comedians out there, and he’s been making fans laugh for decades. While his new look is definitely shocking, it seems to be exactly what Lopez is going for right now. If he does end up retiring, we wish Lopez many years of happiness to come!
