Melania Trump is allegedly considering moving out of the White House. According to insiders, she is reportedly eager to move back to New York City.
‘Melania Is A New York Woman’
“D.C. was always temporary in her mind,” a source told Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack. “Melania is a New York woman.”
The insider went on to say that while Melania, 55, will continue to travel to Florida, where Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate is located, she wants to make New York City her home base again.
This year, the First Lady is reportedly planning to launch a lifestyle and luxury brand. She will be calling it Melania. It will feature fragrance, skincare, luxury home goods, and fashion pieces, among other things.
“This is about turning Melania into a global luxury brand,” the insider explained. “New York is where that happens—not Washington.”
In launching this brand, Melania will be collaborating with longtime stylist Hervé Pierre and her new production company, Muse Films. A tie-in film project is also being planned as part of the rollout.
“She’s done being decorative,” the insider concluded. “This is about control, creativity, and cash.”
Another draw to New York City for Melania is the fact that it’s where her 19 year-old son Barron is living. He’s currently a student at New York University’s Stern School of Business. Melania is known to have a strong bond with her son, so it’s understandable that she would want to live near him.
Melania And Donald ‘Live Separate Lives’
Meanwhile, this comes after author Michael Wolff claimed in May of 2025 that Melania and her husband Donald, 79, “live separate lives.”
Wolff told The Daily Beast at the time that Melania and Donald’s relationship is “remote at best” and “certainly of a different nature than any president and first lady has ever had.”
“One of the things that we’ve also been looking at is that she is basically starting a new business life in New York City, and it is a way to exploit her relationship with the president of the United States while actually distancing herself from the president of the United States,” Wolff claimed. “So, building a kind of ‘Melania brand’ company—I suppose that’s what it is—is a way for her to gain financial independence and also geographic independence from the president of the United States.”
Last month, an insider told People Magazine that Melania and Donald have “little interaction” outside of their public appearances together.
“There is little interaction between them, just what is expected,” this source claimed. ”Then they go back to doing their own thing.”
The insider went on to allege that Melania and Donald each have their own “quarters in the White House.” The source also claimed that Melania “leads her own life and joins him when appropriate.”
When Melania is in Palm Beach, she reportedly “keeps to herself,” according to this source. However, she does accompany her husband to dinner “on occasion.”
Melania is Donald’s third wife, and they celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary last month. Should Melania move back to New York City, it will certainly be interesting to see if their marriage will survive!
