Earlier this week, we reported that the Food Network star Anne Burrell died suddenly on Tuesday at the age of 55. She was found dead on the floor of her shower in her Brooklyn, New York penthouse that morning.

Now, a heartbreaking final admission that Burrell made to her friends before her death has been revealed.

Burrell’s Heartbreaking Admission

Burrell was found “unconscious and unresponsive” in her bathroom by her husband Stuart Claxton at around 7:50am on Tuesday. He had last seen her alive at around 1am.

In a bittersweet twist, Burrell had only recently admitted that she’d finally settled down in her 50s thanks to finding love with Claxton after “living the rock star chef life” for decades. She made this admission while being interviewed by her friend Tori Spelling on her misSPELLING podcast back in March.

“From when I was a kid, I don’t know why, but I always was like, I am not getting married until I feel like I have something in life to share — until I have accomplished stuff,” Burrell said in this interview. “I was living my best life! I was like, living the rock star chef life…I was working a lot, and I had a great social life.”

Over time, however, Burrell’s priorities shifted.

“I just started to feel like, all right, you’re getting a little old to keep on doing this,” Burrell admitted.

It was this turning point that led to Burrell meeting Claxton on the dating app Bumble in 2018. They went on to marry in October 2021. This made Burrell a stepmother to Claxton’s 22-year-old son, Javier.

“Kids were never on my radar, really,” Burrell confessed. “I love being an aunt. I have nieces and nephews. So I’m like, [being a stepmom] is the perfect amount of parenting for me.”

Sadly, Burrell would only get to experience less than four years of marital bliss with Claxton before her untimely passing.

Burrell’s Friends Shocked By Her Death

Those close to Burrell have been left shocked by her death. Indeed, she had just performed in an improv show the night before her passing. Those in attendance said that Burrell seemed happy and healthy at the show.

“I think Anne looks like she’s in pretty decent shape these days, so it’s kind of surprising to me,” Burrell’s friend and fellow chef Elizabeth Falkner told Daily Mail. She added that the Worst Chefs In America host’s death was “so sudden and shocking.”

“I know it is very personal to me what happened, and I can’t believe somebody even younger than me has just passed away. It’s close to home for all of us,” Falkner continued. “The culinary family is like family, so this hurts a lot of us. We just all feel it.”

Burrell Death Investigation

Sadly, it has since been revealed that Burrell’s body was found “in the shower unconscious and unresponsive surrounded by approximately (100) assorted pills.” Her death is now being investigated as a possible drug overdose. An autopsy has been performed on Burrell’s body, but her exact cause of death has yet to be revealed.
