The country music legend Dolly Parton is celebrating her 80th birthday on Monday, January 19.

Parton’s 80th Birthday

Parton rang in her birthday on Monday morning by taking to Instagram to post some new photos. The images show her posing with a butterfly-shaped cake adorned with candles as she celebrates her landmark birthday.

In the final photo, Parton showed that her sense of humor is still very much intact, as she could be seen using a fire extinguisher to douse a large flame atop the candles. She captioned the series of images with a simple cake emoji.

Parton Talks Turning 80

Parton previously opened up about her feelings about her 80th birthday in an interview back in November.

“People say, ‘Well, you’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, so what?” Parton told People Magazine at the time. “Look at all I’ve done in 80 years. I feel like I’m just getting started.”

“I know that sounds stupid, but unless my health gives way, which right now I seem to be doing fine,” she added.

Later in this interview, Parton admitted that “there’s a lot to be said about age.”

“If you allow yourself to get old, you will. I say, ‘I ain’t got time to get old!’ I ain’t got time to dwell on that. That’s not what I’m thinking about,” the “Jolene” singer continued.

Parton went on to say that she was looking forward to her 80th birthday. Well, sort of…

“Not that anybody would want to celebrate that, but there is a celebration in the fact that I have done so much in that time and that I’m still doing it,” she explained.

As she celebrates turning 80, Parton is still excited for the future.

“I don’t know what I’m going to be doing tomorrow,” she confessed. “Whatever comes, I’ll give it my best.”

As for her decades-long career in entertainment, Parton simply concluded, “I got to see my dreams come true.”

Parton’s ‘Health Challenges’

This comes after a difficult few months for Parton. Indeed, she was forced to postpone her Las Vegas residency from December of 2025 to September of 2026 due to various “health challenges.”

These health problems forced Parton to miss her own birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night.

“Well hey there Grand Ole Opry family,” Parton wrote on Instagram on January 7. “I just wanted to say how much it means to me that you’re all coming together again this year to celebrate my big ol’ birthday with some of my songs.”

“Some of my favorite memories happened right here on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, and I wish I could be there in person but I’ll be sending you all my love, for sure,” she continued.

Parton ended her message by urging her friends and fans to “have the best night ever.”

Despite her health challenges, Parton has insisted that she’s going to be “okay.”

“I love you for caring, and keep praying for me,” she said in October.

Dolly Parton Day

Meanwhile, today. has officially been declared Dolly Parton Day in Tennessee. The state’s Governor Bill Lee made this official in a proclamation that he signed on Friday. In it, he said that he wanted to “honor the life, legacy, and extraordinary contributions of Tennessee’s favorite daughter.”

“Dolly Parton’s life and career is woven into Tennessee’s music, culture, and rich history,” Lee said in a statement. “Her talent and generosity have made a lasting impact on the world. And it is fitting that we honor her 80th birthday by celebrating her remarkable legacy and dedication to the Volunteer State.”

Parton is a true living legend, and there will never be another one like him. In a time where we are more divided than ever, it’s rare to find a celebrity that we can all get behind. Dolly Parton is that person, as she is truly loved by all.

We’d like to with Parton a very happy birthday, and many more to come. God bless you, Dolly Parton!
