The disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has just been hit with more bad news as one of his main attorneys has abruptly quit his sex trafficking case.

Diddy’s Lawyer Quits

On Thursday, Anthony Ricco filed a motion to withdraw as one of Diddy’s six defense lawyers. He offered no explanation for why he chose to do this.

“Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs,” Ricco wrote in the filing. “It is respectfully but regrettably requested that the court grant the relief requested.”

Ricco went on to say that he made this decision after talking to Diddy’s lead counsel Marc Agnifilo. He then explained that the reason for the affidavit’s “brevity” is that he did not want to risk revealing anything that could be protected by attorney-client privilege.

Though Ricco did not specify what they were, he assured the judge that “there are sufficient reasons” for requesting to be removed from this case. He concluded by saying that his departure won’t delay Diddy’s trial, which is set to begin on May 5. Ricco also said that Diddy “will continue to be represented by five other attorneys of record.”

Diddy’s Arrest

Diddy, 55, was arrested back in September on various sex trafficking charges. He has since pled not guilty to all of the charges against him. If convicted, Diddy is facing 15 years to life in prison.

On top of that, Diddy is facing at least 40 lawsuits by men and women who allege that the rapper drugged and assaulted them. Diddy has denied all of these allegations as well.

Diddy has been denied bail multiple times since his arrest, as he has been deemed to be a potential flight risk given his wealth and fame. He has been held at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York for over five months now.

Life at the Metropolitan Detention Center is far from pleasant, and it’s apparently starting to get to Diddy. In December, sources spoke out to claim that he is “astonishingly thinner” and “grayer” after months of incarceration.

“When he first got there, this is kind of normal because you’re going through this transition and you’re depressed,” prison expert Larry Levine told Daily Mail in December. “You don’t know what’s going to happen.”

‘People Want To Kill’ Diddy

Levine went on to say that Diddy potentially has incriminating information “on a lot of people.”

“He does get a lot of people in trouble. People want to kill him,” Levine explained. “So what if somebody on the outside knew someone that had a relative that worked in the prison and they put something in his food?”

“A little bit at a time, then he gets poisoned, whatever it is, and it’s early checkout for Mr. Puff Daddy. They kill him,” Levine continued. “That’s another reason, another theory as to why he wasn’t eating. He was afraid the food was poisoned or contaminated.”

Losing one of his lawyers so suddenly is probably the last thing that Diddy wants to be dealing with now. As his trial nears, only time will tell if Diddy is ever a free man again!
