The Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke, 100, celebrated his fourteenth wedding anniversary with his wife Arlene Silver, 54, on Sunday, March 1.

Van Dyke And Silver’s Wedding Anniversary

Van Dyke and Silver married on a leap day, as they tied the knot on February 29, 2012. To celebrate their anniversary, the couple took to Instagram Live over the weekend. Silver later posted the recording to her own Instagram page.

“14 year anniversary with my very special guest ❤️❤️❤️,” she wrote in the caption.

In the video, Silver said, “I have a very special guest today to celebrate a very special day. My husband is here!”

Silver then panned over the camera to show Van Dyke laying next to her in bed.

“I’m not really shorter, I’m just lying down on the bed,” Van Dyke joked with a laugh. He then pointed to his wife and said, “Hi, she’s mine!”

Van Dyke Reveals How He And Silver Met

During their Instagram Live, Silver encouraged Van Dyke to tell the story of how they first met. The couple met backstage at the SAG Awards in 2006. At the time, Silver was working the event as a makeup artist.

“I was sitting in the green room where everybody waits to go on, and the place is full of actors and actresses,” Van Dyke recalled. “One thing about Hollywood actresses, they’re pretty heads on stick figures. So I know them in a minute. I was sitting there just by myself, all of a sudden I see this vision approaching me. No stick figure, gorgeous!”

“And I swear this, I never thought of getting up, I never thought of speaking,” he continued. “I found myself standing on my feet saying, ‘Hi, I’m Dick.’ I don’t know what hit me, but I just did it. I invited her to sit down, we chatted a while, turns out she was a makeup gal, so I hired her on the spot.”

Van Dyke and Silver went on to marry six years later in Malibu, California.

“Neither one of us can think where the time went,” Van Dyke said. “We’ve had so much fun, been so many places. And I’ve fallen in love with her more every day. I do, I’m telling you. She gets better every day. I wouldn’t even be here, I wouldn’t be 100 years old if it weren’t for her, and that’s no kidding. She’s pulled me through a lot of things.”

“But I feel pretty good for 100,” he added. “And she just keeps getting more and more gorgeous, doesn’t she?”

Van Dyke Turns 100

Van Dyke was previously married to Margie Willett from 1948 until they divorced in 1984. They shared four children together. Willett passed away in 2008.

Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday in December of 2025. At the time, Silver told People Magazine that she is “so grateful” not just to celebrate her husband at events, but also to be with him in their downtime.

“I’m so glad he’s still with us. I’ve always been celebrating him, since 2011 when I got him on social media. It’s like a pinnacle of all that is … All these different people from different events we’ve done… So cool,” she said. “I’m so happy.”

“I’m so honored to have him in my life, take care of him, and nurture this community that we’ve built, that he’s built over the years,” Silver concluded.

As for Van Dyke, he could not be happier with Silver.

“She’s responsible for keeping me in the moment,” he said of Silver in November. “She’s kept me happy every day of my life, every day, she’s a joy. She can get me singing or dancing, and she carries so much responsibility … I’m just lucky.”

We’d like to wish Van Dyke and Silver a very happy wedding anniversary, and many more to come!
