It’s been nearly two years since the Hollywood legend Bruce Willis, 69, of Die Hard and The Sixth Sense fame was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Now, Willis’ ex-wife and Hollywood star Demi Moore, 61, is opening up about how he is doing these days.
Moore Discusses Willis’ Dementia Battle
Moore, coming off rave reviews for her latest film The Substance, discussed the heartbreaking nature of dealing with dementia.
“You know, I’ve said this before. The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,” Moore said while appearing at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on Sunday. “But for where he’s at, he is stable.”
Sadly, those who have dealt with dementia know this is true.
Moore, who was married to Willis from 1987 until 2000 and shares three adult daughters with him, went on to share her advice for others in similar situations.
“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at,” Moore explained. “When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness.”
Moore last visited Willis “two days ago” with their granddaughter Louetta.
“And being able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it,” the former Ghost actress added.
Willis ‘Is In A Stable Place’
This comes one month after Moore said that “given the givens, [Bruce] is in a stable place.”
Moore then revealed that she sees Willis as much as she can.
“When I’m in L.A., I go over every week and I really treasure the time that we all share,” she explained.
Earlier this year, Moore and Willis’ daughter Rumer, 36, told Fox News that her father was “doing OK.” She also thanked fans for their support.
“Through this experience, what’s been so incredible is my dad is so beloved, and that’s been so evident in the transparency with which we’ve been sharing,” she said. “And I think if there’s any way sharing our experience brings hope — whatever comes forward as a family — that can have an effect and bring any sort of hope, comfort to someone else experiencing that, then to me, that’s… everything.”

Moore And Willis’ Youngest Daughter Speaks Out
Moore and Willis’ youngest daughter Tallulah, 30, discussed his condition back in August.
“It’s the same, which in this situation is a good thing,” she told E! News about her father’s condition. “Our visits have so much love and I feel that. That overarches anything for me is being able to have that connection.”
“I know he knows how much I love him. I know how much he loves me, I know how much he loves all of us,” she continued. “It’s a hard thing for anyone going through this. But it has really created an opportunity for more love for my family.”
Tallulah concluded by saying that her family is trying to use their platform to help others.
“We are in a very unique position where we have this platform,” she stated. “All of us do… all of us in our own ways, have a voice… and I think it’s been ingrained… I know for me, especially, ‘how can we use something that’s painful or challenging or a struggle and create awareness about it.’”
This has clearly been a very difficult time for Moore and all of Willis’ other loved ones. Please join us in saying a prayer for them.
