Legendary composer Danny Elfman has been brought on board for Stuart Fails To Save The Universe.
Danny Elfman is writing the theme song for The Big Bang Theory spinoff Stuart Fails To Save The Universe.
The acclaimed composer will be part of the upcoming HBO Max sitcom when it launches in July. He is known for The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride.
Big Bang Theory Spinoff

On Sunday (26.04.26) at CCXP Mexico City, the premiere plans were revealed. Warner Bros Discovery has also confirmed Elfman will create the “original theme music for the series”.
The logline for the show reads: “Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.
“Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the a** Barry Kripke.
“Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.”
The series will see former Big Bang Theory actors Kevin Sussman (Stuart), Lauren Lapkus (Denise), Brian Posehn (Bert) and John Ross Bowie (Barry) reprising their roles.
Chuck Lorre’s Thoughts
Last summer, creator Chuck Lorre weighed in on the synopsis, which names Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) specifically.
Asked if the Big Bang Theory leads could appear in the spinoff, Chuck told TVLine: “I cannot speak to that.
“That is a closely guarded piece of information that, you know, I’ve taken a blood oath regarding.”
He was also quizzed on the line promising “alternate-universe versions” of characters from the original sitcom. It prompted a question regarding whether the legacy cast as a whole could return, even if it’s not in their original form.
Lorre responded: “Is that your hope.”
When the interviewer admitted it “would be my hope” along with “millions” of others, the creator teased: “You’re gonna love this show!”
