Valeria Mireles, a beloved cowgirl influencer who was known as “Miss Rodeo,” died on Monday in a tragic car accident. The rising star was only 20 years-old.

Mireles Killed In Car Accident

The car accident occurred in the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo León. Mireles’ parents have “asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time,” according to an official statement.

David González, Mireles’ uncle and the former mayor of her hometown Sabinas Hidalgo, took to social media to honor her hours after her death.

“Niece Ana Valeria Mireles Villarreal, you will always live in our hearts,” he wrote. “We will miss you very much.”

Mireles became popular online for her cowgirl lifestyle and horseback riding. Indeed, she had amassed around 100K followers across Instagram and TikTok.

Mireles was first introduced to rodeo when she was 8 years-old, and she immediately fell in love with it. She later earned herself the nickname of “Mexico Rodeo Queen,” and she was particularly talented in barrel racing.

“Valeria was more than a rodeo queen; she was an ambassador of cowboy culture, an inspiration to many young women,’ the Mexican Rodeo Federation said in a statement.

“Her smile lit up every arena, and her passion for rodeo was contagious. Although her passing leaves a void, her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the memory of rodeo,” the statement continued.

The Miss Rodeo Nuevo León organization paid tribute to her as well, particularly singling out how she carried herself.

“Each star in our logo reflects the gratitude and passion of our Misses … And two belong to you, Ana Valeria Míreles Villarreal,” the company said. “You left beautiful footprints forever. Thank you for your empathy, love, charity, kindness, and enthusiasm.”

“I will carry you in my memory and in my heart with that smiling face and so sweet,” she continued. “Wherever you went you lit up the room with your scenery and your light.”

Last month, Mireles posted a video to TikTok in which she wore a white cowboy hat as she watched cattle grazing in an open field.
