The country music stars Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves have finally quashed their “beef” after feuding and not speaking to one another for many years.

Musgrave And Lambert’s ‘Beef

Musgraves, 37, and Lambert, 42, were long rumored to be in a bitter feud that went back around 13 years.

It was alleged that Musgraves was livid because she was talked into handing over her song “Mama’s Broken Heart” to Lambert. Musgraves had been counting on this song being her breakout single as a freshman artist. Instead, Lambert scored yet another hit with it.

At the CMA Awards, a viral clip showed Musgraves scowling when Lambert thanked her from the stage. Given this longstanding feud, it came as a shock when Musgraves teamed up with Lambert for a duet on her new album “Middle of Nowhere.”

Musgraves Confirms Feud Was ‘Real’

When asked if this beef was real, Musgraves told Variety, “Oh, there was. It was grass-fed, grade A.”

“I mean, it’s real and that’s why I love this song, because it’s not coming from some contrived place in a writing room,” Musgraves continued. “We’ve come together after years of really, honestly, not being friends.”

“I had this idea one day when I saw her on Instagram, riding one of her horses, and I thought, ‘Well, I guess we have two things in common: horses and divorces,'” she added. “And I was like, ‘Wait, that’s a song.’ Then I took it a step further: ‘What if I write it with her? What if it’s a duet? [Expletive] it, I’m gonna reach out.’ I hadn’t spoken to her in years and was like, ‘Hey, I have this idea. If anybody would get it, it would be you. We’ve had our [expletive] over the years, but this would be really funny.’ And she was like, ‘I’m down.’

Musgraves went on to recall, “I was like, ‘Look, I’m not trying to be your friend, but we should write this song at least.’ So it was a late addition, the last song added” to the album, which was completed in January. The album was released last week on May 1.

Musgraves And Lambert Make Peace

As they wrote the song together, Musgraves and Lambert finally made peace.

“In our writing session, Miranda said, ‘Hey, I wouldn’t have the career that I have without that song, and I’m really grateful for it,’” Musgraves recounted. “So it was very full circle.”

“It was a plot twist that even I did not see coming, so it really surprised me too,” she admitted. “We talked about everything, and we’re both older now and have less energy for dumb [expletive]. I don’t love having weirdness with anyone out there.”

Musgraves and Lambert are two of the biggest names in country music in the 21st century. Indeed, the two of them have millions of fans in common. That’s why it will come as a relief to so many that they have decided to put their beef behind them.

In the end, life is too short to hold grudges. Here’s hoping that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Musgraves and Lambert!
