The country music star Zac Brown is currently in the middle of an ugly divorce battle from his estranged wife Kelly Yazdi. In a new emotional video that she posted to TikTok, Yazdi, 33, is claiming that Brown, 45, asked her for a divorce just nine days after their wedding party in November of 2023.

Worse, he supposedly did it over the internet.

Yazdi Sounds Off

“We held our private wedding party in Nashville last November with our family and friends, and nine days after our wedding party, Zac unexpectedly told me over Zoom that he wanted a divorce,” she alleged.

Yazdi went on to explain why she has stayed quiet about her marriage struggles until now.

“You haven’t heard from me in a while because I have been afraid to publish anything in fear that it could result in more legal things being brought against me to suppress my freedom of speech,” she said.

The reason behind Brown’s divorce demand may have been, at least in part, due to an unsigned Non-Disclosure Agreement.

“After he told me that he wanted a divorce, I refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would have broadly prohibited me from ever talking about my life or relationship with Zac for the rest of my life,” Yazdi continued. “And after I refused to sign that lifetime NDA, that is when Zac filed for divorce back in January, and then a couple weeks later, I was fired from my position as executive vice president of his company.”

Yazdi Doubles Down

Yazdi then claimed that Brown used their wedding party video “with alterations and without my consent for commercial gain,” and to attack her integrity. According to her, Brown sued her for a poem that she wrote. He then asked for an emergency restraining order against her. In doing this, Brown allegedly claimed that Yazdi was violating a confidentiality clause in her employment agreement with the company.

Yazdi concluded her video by lamenting the “huge power disparity” between the celebrity Brown and herself.

“But I will continue to stand up for myself,” she said. “To everyone listening, your First Amendment right to freedom of speech is so important, and it’s absolutely worth fighting for.”

Brown And Yazdi’s Divorce

Brown and Yazdi announced their divorce in December of last year. At the time, it seemed that they were trying to keep things amicable.

“We are in the process of divorce. Our mutual respect for one another remains,” they told TMZ. “We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together. As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”

Clearly, things have taken a turn for the worse in the months since then. A source close to Brown claimed that the divorce went off the rails in January of 2024, when Yazdi allegedly “showed up unannounced” at Brown’s house in Georgia days after he filed for divorce.

Yazdi’s lawyers fired back by denying these claims. They alleged that the claims are “a designed PR effort launched as soon as Kelly broke her silence” in order to “intimidate her.”

This is clearly a very messy situation for everyone involved. Here’s hoping that Brown and Yazdi can each find a way to get past this and move on with their respective lives.
