Chris Pratt, who has long been known as one of the only openly devout Christians in Hollywood, has revealed that he just had the “extraordinary honor” of meeting Pope Leo XIV.

Pratt Meets The Pope

“What an extraordinary honor Pope Leo XIV,” Pratt, 46, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself meeting the Pope. “Thank you for having me.”

This comes right before the release of The Tomb of Peter, a new documentary hosted by Pratt. This documentary reportedly explores the mystery, history, and faith behind what many believe to be the final resting place of St. Peter.

The movie was produced by Vatican Media, the Fabric of St. Peter, and AF Films. Indeed, it will take viewers beneath St. Peter’s Basilica, deep into the ancient necropolis where it’s believed that Peter is buried.

“It is an extraordinary honor to partner with Pope Leo and the Vatican on this project,” Pratt told Vatican News. “St. Peter’s story is foundational to the Christian faith, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust and access granted to help bring his legacy to the screen.”

Pratt Surrenders Himself To Jesus

Earlier this year, Pratt opened up about the moment that he decided to surrender himself to Jesus.

“I care enough about Jesus to take a stand, even if it cost me. It could cost me everything, but I don’t care. It’s worth it to me because this is what I’m called to do, it’s where my heart is,” Pratt told The Christian Post back in March.

“I’m a father of four. I want to raise my children with an understanding that their dad was unashamed of his faith in Jesus, and with a profound understanding of the power of prayer, and the grace and the love and the joy that can come from a relationship with Jesus,” he continued. “You don’t hear that a lot from people in entertainment, but it’s who I am. I’m not going to hide behind it. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Pratt Struggles With Doubt

Pratt went on to say that he never doubted the existence of God. However, like many Christians, he’s struggled with doubt in general in the past.

“The first time I walked up to the church altar and got on my knees and cried, I was a child,” Pratt recalled. “The next time I did it, I was still a child, I was 19. And then the next time I did it, I was in my 30s. … I’d make promises, but I didn’t keep them. I said, ‘God, save me in this moment, and I’ll give you my life.’ And then He did, and I was unburdened from the weight of my shame, my guilt and my sin. And then months later, maybe a year later, two years later, I’m off doing the same stuff that got me down the wrong path in the first place. The sinful, broken nature of humans was living in my heart.”

Pratt Wants To Spread The Word Of God

These days, as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Pratt is determined to use his platform to spread the word of God.

“This platform was given to me for a reason,” he concluded. “I want to affirm the people who are believers in Christ. I want them to hear me and say, ‘Wow, that’s cool. He’s willing to say it. I’m going to stand up at work today and say it.’ But I also want to reach out to the people who have no idea who God is. … I want to be a light to people who’ve never seen light. I want to be a light to people who have seen light but turned away from it or been afraid of it.”

In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find such an openly devout Christian as Pratt. God bless you, Chris Pratt!
