Chris Pratt, who has long been known as one of the openly devout conservative Christians in Hollywood, is speaking out this week to issue a major warning about the entertainment industry. Indeed, according to Pratt, Hollywood “will kill you” if you don’t have a strong inner faith foundation.
Pratt’s Christian Faith
While appearing on the TODAY show on Tuesday, Pratt was asked directly about his faith.
“You are a man of great faith, and your Instagram bio says, ‘God first, grateful to be here.’ How has that guided you through your journey in Hollywood, a place not always known for its faith?” host Craig Melvin asked.
“It is what it is, man. I got a belief and I go with it, and for the most part, it’s been amazing,” replied Pratt, 46.
“I think, you know — there’s this Christine Caine quote that says, ‘If the light that shines upon you is greater than the light that’s within you, then the light that shines upon you will kill you.’ And you see it in our business, man,” he continued. “You see people who have the world by the balls, and they just are so unhappy. Excuse my language.”
Pratt went on to double down by talking about the emotional toll of fame.
“People have this light that shines on them, and it can really make you unhappy and unsettled and turn to things that are not good for you,” he explained. “And, so, for me, it’s really grounding, man. It’s good for me. It’s good for my family. Good for my wife, good for my life.”
Pratt’s Family Life
In this same interview, Pratt opened up about his family life with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger. He specifically talked about how they’re raising their three young children: Lyla, 5, Eloise, 3, and Ford, 1. Much to the surprise of some, Pratt revealed that the three kids he shares with Schwarzenegger have never seen a movie, not even the ones that he stars in himself.
“My 5-year-old, my 3-year-old and my 1-year-old have never seen movies,” Pratt said. “Katherine is very old school when it comes to screens and technology and all of that stuff. So, we’re waiting.”
“There’s going to be a season, they’re gonna realize their dad is really cool,” he added. “They haven’t realized it yet, but one day.”
Pratt also shares a 13 year-old son Jack with his ex-wife Anna Faris, who is also a Hollywood star.
“My 13-year-old, I took him to a screening of the first movie,” Pratt said, referring to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. “He thinks it’s pretty cool.”
Pratt concluded by joking that while his three youngest children may not yet understand that he’s a celebrity, he still has at least one fan at home.
“Jack likes me, though,” Pratt said with a laugh.
Pratt’s Christian Marriage
Pratt and Schwarzenegger married back in 2019. In the years since then, they’ve been open about their passions for both faith and family.
“We also had a ceremony at St. Monica’s Church, and a part of getting married at St. Monica’s Church is doing premarital counseling,” Pratt said while appearing on SiriusXM’s “Literally! With Rob Lowe” podcast last month. “We did like, six sessions with this guy who was, by the way, the best thing in the world.”
In today’s crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a celebrity who is so open about their faith. We applaud Pratt for continuing to use his platform to promote Christian family values.
God bless you, Chris Pratt!
