The world is in shock over the death of the former One Direction singer Liam Payne, who died on Wednesday after allegedly falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was only 31 years-old.
Now, chilling new details about Payne’s tragic death are coming to light.
Disturbing 911 Call
A 911 call from the chief receptionist at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel has just been released. In it, the receptionist expresses concern about Payne’s behavior minutes before he died.
In a translated transcript, the hotel worker said that Payne was “under the influence of alcohol and drugs.”
“What I’m asking is for someone to come urgently,” the receptionist said, according to a transcript shared by the BBC.
The call was made at 5:01 p.m. local time. Payne fell to his death from a third floor balcony about ten minutes later. The hotel worker made a point of saying that Payne’s life might be “in danger” because he was “in a room with a balcony.”
“We’re afraid he could do something that threatens his life,” said the receptionist, who added that Payne had been at the hotel for “three days.” He also claimed that Payne had been “trashing the entire room” before his death.
Police later confirmed that they’d been called to the hotel about an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”
Apparently, they did not reach the hotel in time.

Payne’s Cause Of Death
Meanwhile, medical officials have said that Payne fractured his skull and died instantly of “very serious injuries” after his fall. First responders rushed to the hotel in the hopes of helping him, but it was too late.
“Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life,” the top medic said in a statement. “Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”
“The team could do absolutely nothing,” he continued. “There was no resuscitation because it was confirmed that he had died. The whole body had very serious injuries.”
Payne’s family has since issued a brief statement honoring him.
“We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul,” they said. “We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Payne’s History With One Direction
Payne skyrocketed to international fame back in 2010 as part of the five-member boy band One Direction. The group was formed on the British talent show X Factor. The other members of One Direction are Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.
While they didn’t win the show, coming in third place instead, One Direction still scored a record deal with Syco Records, which is run by X Factor judge Simon Cowell. Indeed, One Direction’s first four albums debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The group’s 2014 tour to support their “Midnight Memories” album made $290 million, making it the highest-grossing tour of the year.
One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016, with each member embarking on solo careers. Payne later released his first full-length solo album, titled LP1, in 2019. Back in March of this year, Payne released his first single in three years, which he called “Teardrops.”
Payne leaves behind one child, a 7 year-old son named Bear, who he shares with the former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole. Please join us in saying a prayer for Payne’s loved ones during this tragic time.
