Chelsea Handler is speaking out this week to claim that there is “something wrong” with straight men. The 51 year-old comedian said this while complaining about modern dating culture.

‘Something’s Wrong…’

While appearing on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast, Handler blasted today’s dating culture. According to her, dating apps and endless options have led to a generation that is completely unwilling to commit.

“It’s very hard in today’s world to meet straight guys that have their [expletive] together. Something’s wrong. I don’t know what’s wrong,” Handler lamented.

Handler went on to say that she initially wanted to help other women find high quality men. However, she quickly realized that many successful women are struggling in this department just as much as she is.

“So, I was initially trying to help straight women meet straight men,” Handler explained. “But I think with dating apps and social media, there’s just so much abundance and so much choice that nobody really feels like they have to … lock it in.”

Handler believes that swipe culture has completely destroyed the concept of effort in modern romance.

“They can swipe through 50 women a day,” Handler said. “So they’re not making the effort that people used to make to date.”

“I meet all these amazing, incredible women that are like bad-[expletive],” she continued. “They have their own lives, they have their big jobs and they’re all just like, ‘There’s no men out there.’”

Handler Casually Dating

As for Handler, she’s trying to enjoy casual dating at the moment.

“I wouldn’t say I’m in a relationship,” the former Chelsea Lately host admitted. “I would say I’m dabbling in different areas of my life, I don’t like to be tethered to one person.”

Handler’s most recent public relationship was with her fellow comedian Jo Koy. They dated for less than a year before they broke up in 2022. Handler gushed at the time that Koy restored her “faith in men, in love [and] in being 100% who I am.”

While appearing on the “Now What?” podcast at the end of 2022, Handler confessed that she eventually realized that her relationship with Koy would not last.

“Towards the end of the relationship, it just became clear that this was not my person,” she stated.

Handler Slams Marriage

This comes one months after Handler slammed the idea of marriage. While appearing on the “Angie Martinez IRL Podcast,” Handler said that marriage is “not something I attain to do.” Indeed, she said that she is “not out seeking men,” noting, “that is not my agenda in life.”

“I’m here for women and I’m here for myself,” Handler insisted. “I’ve never been very thirsty for a man or a partner. You’ve got to really kind of get my attention for me to pay attention in a serious way because otherwise it’s a bunch of casual encounters. You know what I mean? I like that, I like traveling a lot, I like hooking up with guys. I don’t like to get too serious, I don’t want someone in my space all the time, I just am not interested in that.”

When asked if she has any interest in growing old with someone, Handler replied, “I mean yeah sure.” However, she was quick to add that “there’s 8 million of us” on Earth.

Handler Wants ‘Freedom’

Handler went on to say that instead of thinking of yourself as alone when you’re not in a relationship, “you have to think of yourself as like ‘I’m free. I’m free now to make every decision I want for myself.'”

“My whole vibe is about freedom,” Handler continued.

“I love the idea that I don’t have to check in with anybody about anything I do,” she said of being single. “I don’t have to consider or consult with anyone. If I want to get on a plane and go to Paris, which I will do in a moment’s notice, I will go to Majorca for a month and [expletive] off by myself. You know what I mean? I’ll do all of that stuff.”

Handler certainly has some very interesting opinions when it comes to relationships. In the end, it isn’t hard to see how Handler has found herself single at this stage of her life. Perhaps “straight” men aren’t the problem, and it’s instead Handler herself who is the issue. Only time will tell if she will ever figure that out.
