Chaka Khan is kicking off a brand‑new era, and she’s doing it with a larger‑than‑life persona she proudly calls “Chakzilla.”

Chakzilla Album

The I’m Every Woman hitmaker has joined forces with Sia on her forthcoming album of the same name, inspired by the Japanese monster horror classic.

She told People, “When I was a kid, I really liked the Godzilla movies.”

But Khan isn’t stomping cities for fun — she’s flipping the script.

She said, “Instead of becoming a monster and just tearing up things. I became sort of a monster of a person who does good things.”

She added that the character reflects who she really is. “I tried to make it true to who I am and what I’m about.”

Asked what she wants to fix, she replied, “Everything I can that is cuckoo and crazy and awry.”

“I’m trying to fix and help a lot of people who are having a really hard time in this world today. There’s lots of madness going on.”

The music video leans all the way into the concept, with Khan towering over a miniature city as she cleans up the chaos.

She joked that the best part of filming was simply finishing the shoot.

She laughed, “It was a lot of work.”

Working with Sia

Khan co‑wrote the track with Sia, who also dreamed up the title.

Heaping the Unstoppable hitmaker’s praise, she said, “I would’ve never thought of that.”

“She’s clever. She comes up with lots of ideas.”

The pair teamed up across Khan’s upcoming album Chakzilla, dropping September 18 — her first full‑length release since 2019.

Sia returned the love, calling Khan “the Godzilla of chanteuses alive” and saying it was an honor to collaborate.

Khan says the album brings her back to the pop‑dance energy she embraced early in her career.

It follows a huge run of accolades, including her 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and her 2026 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Still, she’s not dwelling on the past, insisting, “I’m very much a forward thinker.”

“I’m a real next girl.”

As for what she hopes fans take from this new chapter, she said, “I just am hopeful that everyone really likes the music … I just hope everyone’s really happy and really loves what they hear.”
