Last month, Carol Burnett, 91, made history when she became the oldest female comedy Emmy nominee ever for her performance in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale.
But Burnett just getting started. She has big ideas, and wants one specific A-list actress to guest star on Palm Royale.
Burnett’s Dream Palm Royale Guest Star
After working in Hollywood for decades, there aren’t many stars that Burnett hasn’t acted with. When asked by The Hollywood Reporter who she is still hoping to work with, however, Burnett knew who to say right away.
“Meryl Streep!” she said. “Years ago, I wanted to do a two-woman special with her. She was busy at the time, and was so sweet, because not only is she a brilliant actress, but she sings up a storm.”
“Also, she’s funny,” Burnett continued. “She does comedy beautifully, and so that would have been a lot of fun to do. That ship has sailed, but I am still a great admirer of hers. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if she did a guest spot on Palm Royale?”
Streep, of course, is herself a Hollywood legend who has been nominated for more Oscars than any other performer in history. She has been nominated an astounding 21 times, winning on three occasions.

Burnett Suggests Another Guest Star
Burnett was then asked if she needed to call the Palm Royale creator Abe Sylvia to urge him to bring on Streep.
And really, if Carol Burnett comes calling, is anyone brave enough to say no?
“I can suggest it!” she replied. “But there’s another person, too, I love Hannah Waddingham. Wouldn’t she be great for one of those roles in Palm Royale?”
“We’re fans of each other, so I was thrilled when she came up to me last year at the Emmys,” Burnett added. “I was a presenter, and so was she, and we just had a great conversation. She couldn’t have been sweeter.”
Waddingham is a British actress who is known for her work in television shows like Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso. She won one Emmy for her work on the latter.

Burnett Shocked By Emmy Nomination
In this same interview, Burnett said that she was shocked by her own Emmy nomination this year.
“I have to say, I was very surprised,” she admitted. “I was in a coma for four episodes, so I could maybe see, “OK, we’re going to be nominating somebody for best sleep!”
Burnett went on to say that she very much enjoyed filming Palm Royale.
“I had the most fun,” she gushed. “I loved it all, I really did. But I have to say, when I first started shooting, I’m in the coma, right? So I get up out of bed at 5 in the morning, go to the studio, get made up, put on my costume, and go right back to bed. Kind of a good gig.”
Burnett is a true living legend, and there will never be another one like her. We can only hope that Streep takes her up on guest starring on Palm Royale, as it would be so fun to see them share the screen together!
